Yeah, they cover a good 60% of the screen on the smaller devices, so it really is impractical As you both said, it's primarily for the iPad -- and from every indication; they work fantastically. Ideally I'd love an iPad2 just as a solid upgrade to my iPod. Much larger screen, faster hardware, more impressive games.
... but fuck that, heh. A 32GB iPad2 is insanely expensive.
Luckily for me, I'm not I've got an iPod3, lovely 480x320. Looks pretty damned good on a 3" screen and, to be honest, 1024x768 would be a significant upgrade. Hell, I'd settle for an iPad1, though what's the point? Vastly inferior hardware to the iPad2, so I'd be stuck in the same situation I am now.
This is all moot anyhow, I just spent over 7000kr on my new rig. Ain't no way in hell I'm getting an iPad any time soon, not unless someone wants an iPod for portability

Can't wait to replay this classic yet again, this time in mobile form, great for those days when you don't feel like getting up from the bed..
Looked around and Australian Edition is already on App*****r, but who wants a derped version without hos and who knows what else they've cut..
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
I'm a bit disappointed with it's performance on iPhone 4.
It's quite smooth, but not smooth enough, especially when there's a lot of action going on.. Damn, now I want a 4S.
The resolution being well below retina is very noticeable as well. Oh well, maybe it'll grow on me.
Edit: Gotta say, after playing a few missions instead of testing and messing around, the nostalgic gameplay really makes up for those downsides I mentioned.
When you get immersed in the game you barely notice those, until you have a wanted level of like 3 stars.. that's when the lagginess becomes VERY noticeable.
I just hope the more action-filled missions won't be hindered too much by lag as well.
Either way, the game itself is story-wise fabulous & the nostalgia factor is off the hook, so I think I'm gonna play it through on the iPhone anyway.
Also, to mention, the controls are very well done. Very intuitive and responsive.
Only the camera pan is sometimes a bit meh/off, but other than that they're great.
No way of disabling autoaim is bit of a pita as well (especially since the autoaim is a bit random-feeling), but the game is still enjoyable.
On what device? I have yet to experience a single crash on iPhone 4. Crashing is usually caused by running low on ram, which is why I'm interested in knowing on which device this is happening.
Got mine working eventually. on ipod4g 4.2.1 editing info.plist
just for info, i had to get a different version to actually get it running, the first one i got from the 'bay' crashed on the loading bar.
Even then after finding a working version the game would keep dropping back to springboard. I uninstalled 'mobile substrate' from cydia since i noticed lots of problems recently when this got upgraded, now gta runs flawless but be warned uninstalling the 'mobile substrates' uninstalls lots of other stuff including sbsettings/winteboard/mewseek. Gonna put stuff back 1 at a time to see what causes the problem.

Probably iPhone 4, but full with useless crap like WinterBoard. People have no idea how much ram that shit eats. And because of poorly written hooks, periodic restarts are required due to all the memory leaks.

True that, I try to keep my tweaks bare minimum to keep the phone running smooth & battery life as long as possible.
