I cant believe people paid money for this crap. Then carmack has the nerve to talk about higher texture pack etc.. wtf did they think this crap would sell? longtime since a game had this shitty overall texture quality..

I've only just completed it; only really played it bit by bit. The game is very short and linear to the extent of it's pretty much a glorified point A to point B shooter. Graphically at times it was stunning but its let down by some really shitty texture work. I guess I will never play this average game again, roll on Skyrim.

I'm stuck on the first Dugeon, yes, the first combat area, I killed the boss and I don't know where to go.

Quake and doom didn't have a map indicator and had more turns and rooms than CoD.

press alt+f4 for the minimap.

it used to be M but now with trainers dominating the game world the devs bind all the hints and ques to alt+f4. ctrl+alt+del gives you aimbot.

The dungeons or what to call them (Well sort-of the wasteland areas as well.) are fully linear, there's only one path to go so you probably missed a door somewhere.
(I don't know exactly where you are but to me that's the Ghost boss in a small circular room with a single exit point in a clearly visible door, later on just use the zip-line to get back to the entrance.)

(Could also be the Wasters in that garage area after that turret / vehicle boss, just enter the garage right next to him which conveniently opens thus sort of really obviously showing where to go, might be a bit hard to see but the wall in there is broken and allows passage through to the end of that dungeon.)

EDIT: What I meant with really obvious is that when a door or area changes upon picking up a item or killing someone it's a clear indicator in most older FPS titles on where to go, ID follows this pretty much everywhere in Rage, invisible walls and scripts even prevents you from entering or leaving entire areas until you've progressed far enough in the current story mission or accepted a particular side mission.
(Previously it was via keycards though. Razz )


EDIT: Nothing wrong with the game though, just follows a very old shooter formula from that above to spawning enemies to the weapon system but with some additions here and there. Very Happy
(Not much replayability but as a shooter it was pretty fun for a playtrough.)

new in the game, uh ?
press "Tab" in the game and you will see interactive interface; choose the "quest" thumbnail and then set your quest to "set active" or something like that.

hmm ill have a look again. whenever i press tab all i see is my inventory and couldnt see a quest tab. ill look again.


edit: yeah there we go, jobs. i knew id seen it somewhere before, but everytime i looked there, i only remembered you could see inventory, building shit and stats screens.

I'm nearly done with this game, so I'll post my thoughts when I am (yes I'm late to the party, fuck you Laughing).

One thing I'll share now though, especially for those who believe in Carmack's bullshit about rewriting the engine: this is T4. Apart from the obvious graphical "similarities" (remove lighting, add MT, sup T5), if anyone still believe that they rewrote the damn thing, go play Q4. The strafejumping in this is *identical* to Q4 - and I mean identical, down to the timing and (default) airspeed. Q4 is slightly different than Q3, as Q3 is to Q2 and Q2 to Q1 but there is absolutely no difference between this and Q4. If this looking like Q4 didn't give it away for some of you, the movement should.

When i first read about this game i said yay another borderlands which I enjoyed immensely. Then the game came out and I came here to read about it while i was d/ling it. All the comments made me wait for a week to play it and good thing patch 1.1 came out which made the game run perfectly for me.

After playing it my only thoughts are WTF are people drinking these days. There are like 100 pages talking about textures in a game that is good looking by any standards. It might not be the perfect picture but who the f cares ? Personally I enjoy it quite a lot. I would go into other game comparisons but i know all the fanbois will cry their hearts out if I say things like rage>crysis2 so i will avoid it Wink

Bottom line for me..Rage is a very fun experience... short well yeah but homefront was shorter and I liked that too. As for "omg it's linear omg" get your freakin stories straight..a lot of the greatest FPS games are linear and well worth it. Oh look i can take 50 different empty roads to get to the objective.. yeah but you still have to get to the freakin objective. Sure i also enjoy the tomfoolery of dead island or just cause 2 but for like 15 mins ..then i run to do the next quest/objective.

Anyway just my 2c for people who like me might be disheartened to try it out by reading this topic
