Okay, I did a re-check of all my drivers:
Updated my BIOS
Updated my AMD 64 CPU driver
Reinstalled my Motherboard driver (MSI)
Intalled a new graphics driver for GF 6800 (76.45 from Guru3D)
The rest depends on the in-game settings, mine are:
Highest resolution, AA 4x, AF 8x, Glow ON, VSync ON, no Vertex crap.
And guess what. I get a 30-35 fps performance boost! The game runs as smooth as butter It does stop up sometimes for a sec or two, when loading new area, but no biggy.
Not only does Boiling Point run smother but all other games as well! With highest settings on CS:Source I get 60-75 fps avrage.

What a fantastic game! I played it the whole day. There is so much you can do. And the game gives you so much freedom without making you feel lost. The atmosphere and the graphics are also very nice. Imo this is GOTY material. The only few annoying things are some bugs and the occasionally awful performance. Especially in the city my FPS drop to maybe 1-5 FPS. It's unplayable but it's so much fun that I play it anyway. It runs fine everywhere else. That's pretty strange because I would say the awesome jungle looks way better than the unspectacular city.

i notice that when i switched the lighting effects from vertex to regular, it gave a boost in performance. i always get around 50+ fps but the game lags when i drive from the jungle transitting to the town. other than that, no lagging probs.
the game is a sleeper. just like Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. nobody really knew or thought much of it but it turned out to be a really good game. Boiling Point is the exact same thing. too bad there are too many bugs with this game. especially a memory leak. the game takes forever to completely exit after playing hours.

DDR memory makes a difference but it's right that PCI-E and AGP8x doesn't make any difference. At least not with current graphic cards and games. The games don't run faster than they do with AGP4x. That's pretty common knowledge.

AGP 8X is garbage but don't call PCI-Express worthless because that's just incorrect.

I do not want to get into that argument about AGP & PCI-E since I only have AGP. But on paper, PCI-E is supposed to be stronger.
As for AGP 4x and 8x it does make difference. if I in BIOS or in windows set the graphics card (or the mainborad) to run only 4x, I don't notice the diference in Windows but some games start to lag, and some games just behave funny.

I did not know that, thanks for the tip.
While on topic, does anyone know if it's possible to repair weapons? I mean, it's rare to find a weapon with 0% wear (unless you buy them of course but who does that..?) so it would be good if you could clean them up so they work better.

Updating your bios after a format would be a stupid thing to do, as it recides on a small chip on your motherboard "Which is called the bios" and not on your harddrive, when new revisions gets released you could update it, but only if you need any of the new features OR your motherboard runs like shit. |
I said cpu drivers/chipset drivers, i never said updating the bios after a format, dont expect that i am more stupid than i am
And the agp shit does make a difference or it wouldnt be there, may not be a huge difference but it sure as hell is a difference, try it yourself.

This is a fun game, too bad it runs like shit with 512mb ram even on low settings :/
Kinda sad too since the framerates are very good even on higher settings when ONLY the memory is used and not the swap file. Maybe I shuld buy another 256mb stick and make it 768mb.
Anyone got any experience going from 512mb to 768mb? Is there a noticable improvement? I know this game will have a good improvement but how about other games?
1GB memory is not an option for me since I play way too little to make that worthy.

CPU drivers? ,btw agp 8x is just marketing |
he clearly means the mobo-drivers, which usually come with enhanced cpu-to-pci bridge drivers, and many more memory and southbridge related stuff...
And it really makes a big difference if you dont have any agp driver installed, as you ll get snail-speeds from your gfx-card. Its like less than 1x agp speed. In comparison to fully optimized 8x, thats like driving a bike or a lamborghini. The difference from a good 4x agp board /gfxcard to an 8x agp is marginal though, so i guess you re confusing two things there...

mobo, agp, ide drivers etc i know this but i guess the only cpu drivers is for amd64 for cool-&-quiet or am i wrong ,anyway 4x-8x only have 1 or 2 fps diffrence and Ati 9xxx cards run stable on 4x,thats it

no shit tahts what i've been saying all along lol.. but no people gotta exaggerate everything "ooh nooo agp 8x is Just a Scam, honest!". when will you settle for not agreeing with someone isntead of not agreeing AND going in the opposite direction? just makes yourself look stupid
