I somehow managed to go through the paypal payment process..

So, now i have this pre-alpha build, and i've tried it.

First of all, my machine is just not good enough for this. I have problems getting constant 30fps at almost any settings. I know my gpu is a shitty one, but i hopped i could get a better performance.

Second, there are still some steering sensitivity issues that were present in shift2. You know, when you get up some speed, the steering get's very very very sensitive. It is true that i'm using just a Logitech Gamepad with analog sticks, and i know this game is made to be played with a quality wheel, but i just can't afford it right now..

So, i'd rather not make and post some screenshots, because 90% of you would automaticaly puke Rolling Eyes

Sound is awesome, handling isn't forgiving (it's hard as hell), aaaaand, that's about it..
I'm gonna tweak it some more now, and try to not-suck-so-much.. Crying or Very sad

This game is awesome, I'm already looking forward to the next year's worth of development.

Not to mention it's probably the best looking alpha I have seen to date.

The current build is definitely more taxing than Shift 2. I remember getting 60fps on Shift 2 with my Radeon 6870 while this one runs at 35 - 40 fps on high settings, though it's hard to tell how much debug stuff are running in the background and wasting resources.

Yeah, but i just couldn't set it up correctly.. Sad

There's steering deadzone, which i've set to 0; steering sensitivity (set to 1), and speed sensitivity (set to 0). And all these values can be set from 0 to 100..

edit: Well what do you know, setting both of those sensitivities to around 50 makes a huge difference, in a positive way Very Happy

First, i was like Rage FUUUUUUUUUUU, and your shitty ass engine..

..but then i was like So Much Win OMG this is totaly the best racing game evar Very Happy

Yeah, all the people who tried it say that physics are definitely more GTR2-like than Shift 2, and the visuals have been hugely improved as well. This game is going to be a big success Smile

the build theyre releasing doesnt need to be regged nor activated, i guess.

It has the same DRM mechanics as Trackmania 2, you need to enter your login data when you want to launch it.

I find it very exciting to follow the development of the game since Slightly Mad plan to release weekly builds.

Weekly? Interesting. I wonder if the guys from Wolfire Games inspired them as that's pretty much what those guys are doing with Overgrowth.

Similar plans appear on the internet each other week by unknown startup companies, but the key difference here is that Slightly Mad have already proven that they CAN make such a game.

Neo is playing Build 71, which is, afaik Pre-Alpha..

There is no specific release date yet, but the closest one is something like 2012 Very Happy

Also, the name has been changed, it's now called Project CARS.
