Eh, guess the checkboard textures issue is drivers fault after all. Update didn't fix it. Hopefuly non-beta drivers will apear on monday/tuesday...

Maybe its from cfg tweaks "fighting" with the stuff id tweaked in patch.
Patch fixes only performance issues i don't have those without it so im good. |
Maybe, I renamed my .cfg file before running the game so as not to conflict. |
I actually fixed the crashes by turning off the VSync option. It's off now, but again, no crashes whatsoever

Yeah, but having a monarch and pulse cannons is like sex on wheels, although, it gets boring fast, as everything dies instantly.

The patch works great for me also....just a tiny texture pop when I start the game then thats it! I still have the artifacts black band running across the Menu...but not all the time...that thing is wierd!!

Reading some posts here, I don't think I'll install the update. It seems useless and will only break the game for me probably. I like the tweaks I made, thank you, I don't want anything from those removed.

What does that GPU transcode do ? Should I keep it on on my gtx260 ?
I set it to on, didn't really noticed a difference.

Think it has to do with smoother texture loading.

It does the transcoding of the textures to be used by the GPU on your GPU instead of the CPU. If you have a fast GPU and a weak CPU the option should help. If you have a slow GPU it could make things worse. If you have a dual core CPU I would try with it set to ON..

Yes it uses CUDA, and it was programmed by nvidia's engineers, not id.
They tried at some point to port it to OpenCL which would make it work on AMD cards as well but they got slow performance and abandoned that thought, according to them.
