Nothing was "done" to them outside the game itself. Did the guy who ran the game do so with ubersampling? Yes, most likely, does that make my statement "Yes, the game looks like that" any less valid? Let LEOn think whatever he wants, let him troll and mock others despite whining bitterly when people trolled him over his Conviction love (pfahahaha, Conviction?) as I honestly don't care. I enjoyed the game and that's all that matters to me. It looks fine, runs fine, plays fine. Well worth my money and if that's not enough for the graphics whores? Well shit, that's their failing Very Happy

I'm getting back to old version.With the damn patch the game started to crash.
Was good before patch and now i see why ppl say if its ain't broken don't fix it...

So ... just installed it and it runs fine, except for the texture pop-in. I'm downloading the update 1 now, do I also need some custom ini settings ? Please post something, this thread is moving too fast to keep track of things. I have core 2 duo @3.3ghz, 4gb ram and gtx260 (896mb vram)

This. The gameplay is awesome, but the graphics most certainly are not phenomenal.

Just select high settings. You don't need a config anymore, now that they have released the patch. Smile I have deleted mine.

Got around to testing the patch, as I mentioned earlier (Or as I expected.) cvarAdd has now been fixed so these can all be removed now for those whom are still using parts of my config.

cvaradd r_dimshadowforcehighquality 1
cvaradd com_skipintrovideo 1
cvaradd g_showplayershadow 1
cvaradd g_triplef_nofail 1

cvaradd g_aimassist_disable_all 1
cvaradd ai_bloodspray 1
cvaradd ai_usecombatsubtitles 1

VSync can be set from the in-game options now however and the rest were mostly convenient tweaks but they're still useless now.

Maybe its from cfg tweaks "fighting" with the stuff id tweaked in patch.
Patch fixes only performance issues i don't have those without it so im good.

I just went back to playing a bit of the old Hard Reset after this, and to me, comparing fun to fun, HR was much better, in all aspects except character design and animation.

Maybe, I renamed my .cfg file before running the game so as not to conflict.

What i find funny is that the same people that rightly bashed Crysis 2 to death for being a step down from Crysis 1 and an average game overall, now classify Rage as phenomenal when it's just as average as Crysis 2.

It's even a terrible port, something it reminds you off everytime you open your inventory and your mouse goes berserk. But hey, the art design is great (which it is) so everything else is forgiven. And although i agree the game looks great at distance, it does look terrible up close, with reduced polygon count and awful texturing, and I would much prefer the opposite.

And another major let down are the non interactive environments. I only saw some barrels that you could shoot, with terrible explosions i might had, and some crates with pre-baked destruction. There doesn't seem to be any physics going on either, since the enemy's don't have ragdoll, just preset animations and everything else is glued just like COD.

Game crashes after the patch, when I delete ragConfig then it works but I get these artifacts, I guess they changed some options so ragConfig doesn't work anymore.

It's this now.
(Maclockedpages got removed since the patch left it alone but lowered maxppf down to 16, 64 has worked just fine however and I'll likely go above 128 / default also.)

You might want to test r_gamma 0.8 if the game seems overly bright or rather washed out but be aware this also affects the OS so before exiting the game set it back to 1.0 first. Smile
(Or reset color settings in ATI CCC / NVIDIA ControlPanel afterwards.)

No graphical changes with the patch (Not that much would have been possible anyway.), it does very little if you compare console commands. Smile
(The new settings mostly alter what we've bee doing as was mentioned.)

EDIT:

Anisotropic at low is vt_maxaniso 2 (default) and high is vt_maxaniso 4

Texture cache large is this.

vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 8192
vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly 8192
vt_pageimagesizeunique 8192
vt_pageimagesizevmtr 4096

And small (default.)

vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 4096

(And then VSync of course at either -1 / default which is "smart" and caps / synchronizes when over 60 FPS and disables when under, 0 which is disabled and 1 which is fully enabled.)


(maxpages defaults to 8 or 16 depending on dual or quad core I believe but I raised that right back up.)

after patch stuttering gone, popping textures gone. So now i can tell that game is full playable Smile I am using : HIGH texture Cache, Vsync OFF, AA 16x .
