It won't work that way. If you want to enable the console, you have to add

+com_allowconsole 1

to your shortcut's command line.

I have tried that. I've also tried to make a batch file with the following commands "rage.exe +seta com_allowconsole 1 +seta com_SkipIntroVideo 1 +seta image_useCache 1 +seta image_cacheMegs 125 +seta image_cacheMinK 50 +cvaradd mem_phymemblocksizem 512"

I still can't get the console to work. Oh and whatever I put into the rageconfig.cfg and/or zsettings.cfg doesn't apply. The only command that work is the SkipIntroVideo one.

Edit: Post nr 100 yay.

Console worked for me, but it was in the ç key instead of the usual \ key.
Just try a bunch of keys until it pops up.

You're right! It was another key. In my case it was the "ø" key.

Tried custom config. Runs perfectly, no texture popping - only problem is that after prolonged hours of playing the game BSOD-ed on me - MEMORY MANAGEMENT. So I guess I'll wait for a proper fix from id and AMD.

Runs great on 5770 unfortunately the game environment is pretty fragmented into smaller levels.

Would you mind posting that custom config? Lots of people here on 5770 are having issues with this game so posting this might actually be very helpful.

Try using aniso 8x instead of 16x, ie.

vt_maxaniso 8
image_anisotropy 8

One of the best looking games I've seen. Jaw dropping at times. It's a stunner alright, made even better by the crazy animation.

Of course mate...I got it directly from the Steam forums:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2156408

I used the New config for 512-<1GB vram version. Good luck although I would wait for a proper fix.

Nope, played them all. There must be something wrong with your setup. This game is up there with the best of them. No doubt.

Who gets the stuttering now? Newest drivers got rid of checkerboard textures but also brought along insane stutters. Went back to 11.6, smooth as shit. Also looks like checkerboard diarrhea. I'm guessing it's dual core processors? I could live with texture popping but this other stuff isn't tolerable.

I wasn't aware visuals were mutually exclusive. I guess now that Witcher 2 has been made, there's no point in anyone else making any other game... right? Rolling Eyes Come on Neon, I know you're proud of Witcher, but it's NOT the only good looking game on the market. The art style, level design and just overall scale of RAGE is phenomenal. It has some dodgy textures, granted, but those don't detract from the overall visuals... unless you're pining for another company/game Razz

Plus, it's a better game. Different genre's for sure but I know which one I'd rather play.

I honestly don't understand the hate for Rage. It's a fantastic piece of work. Of course, I've had no problems with it at all. I'm not sure I could have even gotten into it if I had to put up with the texture popping so I can see why some people are unwilling to even give it a chance.

I didn't have to do anything with my 580 except for turn on V-sync in the Nvidia control panel.

This completely. You guys know me well enough to know that I'm telling the truth when I say If this game had have been running/looking as bad as it does for other people, I'd have been raging my fucking arse off. The fact that it not only runs flawlessly, but looks simply jaw-dropping (for the most part) means I could spend my time ENJOYING it, rather than being angered at the clusterfuck of a mess.

This again. No tweaking, just create a RAGE profile and force v-sync in nVCP. Though if you want to maximise the quality and minimise the streaming, it can't hurt to add the following lines to RAGE\BASE\RageConfig.cfg;

seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizeunique "8192"
seta vt_pageimagesizevmtr "8192"

Use this config for better quality textures and no pop in: http://www.geforce.com/News/articles/how-to-unlock-rages-high-resolution-textures-with-a-few-simple-tweaks

Code:
vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly2 8192
vt_pageimagesizeuniquediffuseonly 8192
vt_pageimagesizeunique 8192
vt_pageimagesizevmtr 8192
vt_restart
vt_maxaniso 4
image_anisotropy 4

But it will run smooth regardless.

It's worth upping the ansio levels with the rageconfig file as well. Makes the game look substantially better IMO. Without it some allready low-res textures look pretty horrible.

Yes, enable GPU Transcoding in the menu and generally... you're done!

You may also want to force 8K textures to further increase visual quality.
