 | WTF...?
So that fateful day is finally getting close... ubishit-like protection in a game that I actually care about.
Hope they ditch this shit until then.

I'll probably buy this on Steam as well, so always-online isn't that much of a hassle for me. Although I have a feeling that they will change this on the western market. Eastern European countries always seem to use some antiquated and/or fuck-you-paying-costumer DRM (IIRC Starforce is still used in Russia).

Piracy is a very big issue in these countries, I'm not surprised they are doing this, however I'm not sure this is the best way to solve the p-problem.. It could mean people will get pissed and NOT buy it. We'll see.

Are they fucking insane? "Part of the content will be located on the server and downloaded as the game progresses"? Am I in a trial version of a MMO or something? Did Ubisoft infiltrate GSC? Oh wait, even Ubi's DRM wasn't that bad.

There are multiple possibilities. Either it was a mistranslation, given the nature of the "pirates eventually buy games" quote, or it was forced on them by the publisher.

| Quote: | Alex: - Is STALKER 2 on consoles PS3 or XBOX360?
- On the XBOX360 with high probability. On PS3 with a low probability. We'll do it, but let's start there, it depends on how the console itself will feel the moment of departure. |
| Quote: | kino3005: - If this is not a closely guarded secret, say how much money has brought a series of GSC Game World STALKER
- Perhaps it's a secret. I can think of circulation - computer games - slightly more than 5 million and it has overtaken Kazakov. If we talk about books - the Russian-language series for more than 5 million left more than 65 books and we have applied in the record books as the longest series. |
| Quote: | daVyJ_1: - In the "STALKER-2" will be multiplayer? In the first online-conference, you stated that the multiplayer will make a separate game. How many online players have long to wait for this game? ps: Are not you afraid that sales would fall?
- It may be decided that we leave MP or not, we will leave at the time of grinding. If we succeed, we will leave. But we would like to pay special attention to the MP. Under the "STALKER" will be some adjustment, it will have to wait a short time. |
| Quote: | demons: - Tell me, will not last if development of the second stalker, as it did with Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl? Will he promised in time?
- We do not know. The game will be released when ready. Promised time, we focus that will release it in 2012. Output also depends on the film. |
| Quote: | - Will the "STALKER-2" trilogy, as it was the first?
- Yes, it will be a trilogy and the movie too. |
| Quote: | - What are the system requirements for "STALKER-2"
- It is not known. We have an external display of the world is important. The graphics will be modern. And this means that the system requirements may not be quite so low. |

| zmed wrote: | I read a concern on another forum: how will this impact modding? It has always been a very important part of the series. If they now force it to check the content online all the time, it is very likely the end of modding for the Stalker games.
Not to mention that even though COP was reasonably stable compared to the other two, adding a potentially error-prone system on top of things will not help this aspect either.
The more I think about it the less likely it is that I'll buy it. |
Mods are the main reason why I love this series so much. A permanent internet connection + no mod support would mean losing a great part of the PC audience...but why should they care, they have consoles now.

User made contents will magically become DLCs, and everyone will be happy...except for the good old loyal PC players who are destined to be fucked in the arse as always
