"You know all those features that you used? Yeah, we got rid of em."

Just as long as I can still make the damn thing look like 3.6 via options I guess I don't really care.

So they're really going for this "release a shitload of versions every year" bullshit strategy huh? I wonder what version they'll reach by end 2012.

Well, Firefox 10 Stable is scheduled for a January release. They've started spewing major versions every 6 weeks. So it'll be around Firefox 16-17 if they don't come up with another naming strategy?

Some time ago I had a conversation with the guy who handled the PCs in our lab. It's usually handled for the whole hospital by one division, but this postdoc had a ICT background and made a deal with the IT department to use FF in our lab since the hospital uses ye olde IE (version five something). He was so pissed and passionate about this shit, it was actually funny. "By the time I am done installing, testing and explaining FF's new version on these shitty PCs, a month passes. By that time a new version appears!!!". Hehe, the guy ditched the ICT "job" (which he did free for teh lab). Fuck me going back to some ancient IE version brought back nightmares Sad

TL;DR this strategy sucks balls.

The 7.0 Final is out.

P.S. Can a mod change the thread's title to just 'Firefox'?

I don't know if I'm imagining things but FF7 feels very fast for me. They also fixed the direct2D acceleration bug I had (blurry fonts)...so far I'm enjoying this release.

It's pretty quick, been in the beta channel for a while now (FF8 beta should arrive any day now.) though it consumes more memory albeit with stuff like Adblock and NoScript that's not unexpected.
(Nearly 300 MB, NoScript and AdBlock are both notable for this but both have updated to improve upon the start up delay and optimizations.)

Still it's not that bad and it's better it uses what it needs, 300 MB isn't all that bad.

Well, as has been said before, I'd rather the browser use more memory and be quicker than the other way around. When I surf I don't do anything memory intensive at the same time, so I don't mind.

I'm loving FF7, a lot faster and more responsive than the previous version; they're definitely working in the right direction

(I'll stay in the beta channel though, nice and mostly tested updates though Aurora is apparently quite stable.)

try this addon it disables the check for compatibility and you can actually help by reporting if they are working properly or not.

Yeah. I thought it was just when it finished downloading something, but it's happened when I haven't been downloading, so dunno what's up with that.

the plugin inteface is fucked somehow
kill plugin-container when ff freezes and it'll wake up again
also, wtf is it with the file save freeze?
does it really copy the completed file instead of a simple rename? i've noticed it's a lot longer on large files
the bugginess and constant flash crashing make me want to switch back to chrome, but the customizability has me stuck with it

When this happens I use Ccleaner and clear up some Firerox-related stuff in its list and that sql optimization, not exactly what causes it. Then it's fine for some time. It's been happening for 3 months maybe.

Any answers to my previous question ?

@ shole: I'm in the beta channel and flash almost never crashes.

Never had flash crash here (FF8 B1). However, all betas have had an intermittent problem of back button being greyed out for some reason. Right-clicking it shows the history but the button is greyed out as if it's the first page I visited.
