He also states that basically all of that footage was due to high latency. Now I don't know if you've ever played an MP game, but high latency tends to be problematic. BF3 handles it client-side, which means that you see models moving normally and as long as it hits on YOUR screen, it works. That also means that someone who's lagging will be able to hit you after you're already behind cover, because on his screen, you're not behind cover. You will still see them warping when they move around because their client updates so slow.

Nothing that can't be fixed by forcing <100 ms on all clients by some server-side mod Smile

Does not add up. He is obviously hitting him on HIS screen?

what i hate most are those weirdo instakills like he shows in the clip. The ones were you clearly shoot first and then you get killed by 1 shot and the guy hasnt even been touched. (usually 2-3 bullets, not the exagerated version of some people here "a full clip" ^^)

Nope. For some dumb reason they're holding all the updates back for the final game.

I think this explains it pretty good what the problems are:

dumb?
I actually prefer they spend their resources on making the final game better, rather than waste it on patching an old beta build that gets shut down in 5 days anyway.

If pushing an update takes resources from DICE, they're doing it wrong.

Not to mention:

When the final game ships, and they try to deploy the new updates, they will blow up, because something was overlooked, and then they'll say:
if only we tested the deploying mechanism in beta.. Cool Face

edit: come to think of it, what are they testing?
They aren't deploying any fixes, soo the new versions and fixes will be untested, and full of bugs?
They put on a 3month old version, to test only for server load and battlelog..?

Alan Kertz (demize99) said it didn't make the final cut.

Thanks. So, for those who unlocked more sniper rifles, which one would be most similar to the M82/M95 ? Something that can damage helis and be efficient against infantry?

It's sad, but guys, you clearly have NO clue how software is developed, tested and supplied these days.

For anyone with a tiny bit of knowledge it was clear from the beginning that we will have an old build and that this will be more of a load and performance test, instead of gameplay and balance testing. The game is about to be pressed and shipped, when do you think would they have the time to implement actual code changes? This is old code and buggy code ofc.

The final product will most likely have a lot of bugs too...

Todays games are huge, you don't just update two lines of code and ship that file to fix an error Laughing You can do that on parameter changes, but actual game logic is in different classes, output types have to match, data consumers need to have the same interfaces as data providers and so on.

Best thing would have been if they just planned some more time for the development in the beginning and having a proper beta with user input for gameplay balance.

"you are not being informed that you are being hit until its too late"

that dude hit it spot on what the issue is.

Its not that you die from 1 bullet, its that you get hit by 4 bullets, but you only get the last bullet notice and die of it.

add: that colin is really a smart person (shows you that someone can play the game on console and still be smart ^^). He sure pointed out a lot of the issues within the beta.

its not that, its that usually when you see red stuff on your screen, its way too late to do anything and you are usually already dead.

Sadly, not good. But we shouldn't forget that RO2 is an 17 people game while BF3 got hundreds to back it up Wink

BC2's final version ran considerably better than the beta for me, I really hope it's the same thing with BF3. Too bad that many bugs were still there, and the server browser+integrated friends list remained broken for several months Laughing Crying or Very sad

BF3 Beta runs better for me than BC2 does. Go figure Laughing

It's as Valve said about why they are doing the CS:GO beta only on PC: because they can't patch the console versions in a sensible amount of time (since the patches have to be submitted to MS/Sony for certification and that takes weeks), so console betas are always just promotional demos.

Now, DICE could update just the PC version, but they chose not to.
