I'm definitely thinking about buying this game, but would love to know if online works this year before I spend the $$$. I've bought 2k9, 2k10 and 2k11 and have yet to play more than a few minutes of multi without it crashing. I could pirate the shit out of it, but I want to buy the game to play with friends. I really hope it works this year...

You will be able to buy it and preload it, it just won't unlock until October 7th probably.

Is there any way to bypass any region lock Steam may put until Friday for Europe using a proxy or something? Your-freedom proxies don't seem to work.

depends on the file structure after you preload.
with street fighter arcade edition the steam preload was just the normal dvd files moved into the steam/common folder.
therefore a crack and a direct double click on the exe outside of the steam worked perfectly even though it was locked for another three days on steam itself.
who knows. we can hope

on steam now, you have to search.
apparently its showing at oct 4th for uk too!.
but im hoping to god steam dont correct an early mistake so will wait another hour to make sure that date doesn't change.

I'm in Greece, paid the 30 euros to get the game on Steam. I can't even be pissed about the $1=1€. I've been counting down the days, and now I'll finally be able to play. 2K deserves even more than the 30 euros I paid.
And the previous leak should help eliminate the preload times.

Can you please let us know if you can launch the game once it has downloaded? I'm afraid that it will be locked until the 7th... At least if you have two seconds for me before actually enjoying the game! I know it would be hard for me too!

For me Steam says Released 4th and im in EU. If it says that it shouldnt be locked until 7th should it ?

no it shouldn't.
my main fear is its a preliminary steam mistake, and they will lock it up shortly
but with going to work tomorrow and leftos downloading, i have enough time to wait it out and make sure before i buy it from steam.
