Finally got mine flashed. I've zero XGD3 isos so went back to stock (purely to test is any backups would run) and flashed on a laptop (windows 7) using the little USB connection jobby.
Little tip of anyone having issues with the power off/on when erasing the Liteon. Don't pull the plug out the console, pull it from the power block instead. It's a damn site easier to get it in and out quickly and I found I managed it first time around rather than about 6 attempts the other way.
Edit: Balls. Do we know if the latest firmware reflashes the drive like last time? Mines running the update before it.

That's the latest official one, not the upcoming 2.0.14xx dash.

As far as I know; no. The 13599 update only flashes the D4S (the most recent Slim LiteOn) You *should* be safe.

Hey,
Just a question on flashing to 2.0.
I'm currently on lt 1.1 and haven't updated the dashboard in the last few months. I don't have a probe or 360USB and wanted to know if it's still possible to flash the drive without either of these. I've failed the AP25 check so I'm sure I'm flagged for a Ban, I don't go online and never will because I'm sure the ban is just wating for me.
With this in mind, when I last flashed to 1.1 I just used the xbox to power the drive and just use the Eject and Pull power method to get the keys. I still have the dummy.bin and keys from my last flash. Can I update to 2.0 with this method or do I have to have a probe or 360USB.
From what I've searched it sounds like I can but it will be flagged on the xbox, as I don't care about that can I flash the same as I just did last time?
Thanks in advance.

Download update and update via usb drive.
After that download lt2.0 and flash it using JungleFlasher.

yeah, if you have the key it's simple enough.
What drive it it?
I'd update to latest OS. Normally this will unflash the drive anyhow. Load up JF and then manually enter the key into the new firmware (it's listed as manual spoof). Away you go!

I don't see a reason why Microsoft would do that again because the DVD drive firmware has been already updated to read the new XGD3 format.
The upcoming dashboard update is about taking advantage of additional Kinect voice control, but we never know what other surprises they might have for us.

Anyone having problems burning XGD3 disks? I followed the imgburn tutorial but it didn't change automatically the layerbreak from 2,133,520 to 2,086,912 at the middle of the burn. And at 97% I didn't get the error but the dvd burned fine. So than I tried to play the game but the xbox froze at the begging of the first cutscene, also tried to install to HDD but it gave me error at 44%.

I *think* every update from now on will flash the drive, think about it: what if someone is on a very old dash (pre-xgd3) and updates to a newer dash... it must flash the drive in order to play xgd3 discs, so to be sure the drive is compatible, I think they need to flash it every time.

i think its more likely to check what dash there on and if its 2.0.13599 or higher then it wont flash again, if its lower then it performs the flash.
In my personal opinion M$ flashing consoles EVERY time is very dodgy, for both us and them. Think about it, all it takes is a power cut of some kind to happen during the process and your drive is bricked.

Agreed i think flashing everytime even for m$ is not something they would like to do. a simple check as you say would suffice if needed to update.
Even though the XGD3 format is a new security, i don't think re-flashing would be another line of defence tbh, the banhammer is already in place and works very well for that.

Mmmm, come to think of it, maybe you're right. On the other hand, flashing every update is a pain in the ass for us, so maybe they'll do it just to piss off pirates I guess we'll have to wait and see... |
But they also risk bricking the dvd drive each time they flash it. So they may get a big increase in damaged consoles.

Ok so I don't have a backup of my key. Am I safe just to upgrade to latest dash (which should flash my phat samsung drive back to stock) and then extract the key from that, then insert it into LT and then finally flash that?

as far as i know of, definately NOT safe!, once you update the dash it makes the drive key much much harder to be retrieved your so much better off trying to retrieve the key on the firmware your drive is currently on.

I have a question. When you spoof the key into LT2.0 doesnt jf automatically prepare that spoof to be written on the console ? Whats the point in saving the bin file? And how do you load that saved bin file into the buffer ?
