I got to play about 2 hours yesterday and played through the beta content once as a monk in that time.
I'm really happy with the game so far.
The combat animations, effects and sounds are just awesome. You feel the impact of every hit and it's so much fun just killing stuff because of it. It's no comparison to say.. Titan's Quest, where hitting and killing stuff was kinda boring and uneventful as there was barely any feedback and the sounds lacked 'oomph'.
I really like how the physics are weaved into the game as well, not only for interacting with the environment to make it kill stuff (drop a chandelier or make a wall crumble on some enemies, etc) but also the non-deadly interactions of your skills or the enemy's crushing tables or other objects and sending them flying or a nearby banner on a wall getting blown away slightly as a shockwave of an impact hits. It's just sooo satisfying and makes your attacks feel just so much more powerful and effective.
Another great thing I noticed is the lack of lag in combat. I was playing from europe and the servers are in the US.. even so there was no delay. Every attack hit instantly which is pretty awesome.
The interface is very intuitive and easy to use but still gives you all the information you might need, with hit percentages and stuff that's uninteresting to the casual gamers but it's all still there for those who care.
The lack of skill points didn't detract from the experience in any way so far. If anything it made the game more interesting because you get a new skill pretty much every level at that point and it's really great being allowed to just mix and match and find combinations of skills that suit you.
Can't wait for runes to make all that go a step further
Overall it just looks to become a really good game. You might not agree with the art style, but in that art style everything is so well done.. the models, textures and animations fit perfectly. The sounds and voice acting are top notch and the gameplay is extremely satisfying and addictive, maybe even more so than Diablo 2. The game just screams quality in every way... I can think of no complaints or issues with the beta.

Flip them horizontally? For some reason, that always seems to have them escape the blocking from media companies.

Oh my, a book that looks like Quran buried in a pile of mud. Big fucking deal, why are they always so butthurt? I couldn't care less if they took the Bible and put it on Diablo's ass, it's just a damn game, for entertainment...

Someone should find that book, cast some fire spells next to it and then post a video of it on YouTube titled "BURNING THE QURAN!"

this is with items and everything.
But then again, items arent finalized + lots of randomness + why bother with this now ^^

there's a skill calculator on the official site.. on that other one human_steel posted you can also equip items.
it's not really that useful though as there's a lot of random effects involved.. can't really plan for that too well.
