Somewhat like a tank then, albeit it's the ass here and not the engine you'd hit with such a approach. Very Happy
(Yellow bright hit zones on it's anus like in Lost Planet 2? well ok that would be too much.)

(Fairly certain that large reptile in the valley in Lost Planet 2 had hit zones on it's behind, but it also had several around the tail section and even inside it's mouth once you started shooting it full of holes to reveal these.)

Realistically (Or what to call it.) I guess it'll be something like a mix of a alien queen and a praetorian then, those have rather bulletproof heads and with the larger size like say a queen having it ram you would indeed have a rather crushing effect. Smile
(I suppose it's spine or something is what to hit but as far as I remember about Aliens and their appearance there's nothing specifically to shoot behind them other than the tail and of course the head itself, no specific spines or other areas, unless those tube protrusions are vulnerable - kinda like that tongue thing they have.)

EDIT: Other soft spots are pretty rare though other than shooting a limb off I guess (Useful during co-op at least but better to blow the creatures head off directly than to waste ammo.), unsure if they even have eyes. Razz
(And that acidic blood stuff again, seeing how that worked the alien toilets must be amongst the most corrosive resistant structures ever made, then again I don't even know if they have those things either or any other needs than to implant stuff or feed.)

Sounds like it could be something like that.

I'm guessing using fire will be good aswell. Those pesky aliens dosn't seem to like fire that much. If you don't want to aim Smile

Those walkers (Well whatever they are for, cargo operating robot like vehicles.) come in handy too I guess if there's going to be things like that.
(I'm not entirely certain if it'll be primarily a action game or a survival game, that stuff above about shooting them in the head is more important if it's a survival title, you don't really blast zombies in the legs and arms in Resident Evil so wasting ammo here would work the same though the target here is far faster and has intelligence, which is hopefully utilized in the game but on the same time a marine unit is pretty well armed, though still soft and squishy targets.)

In the interview he says that the game will be part survival horror and part squad based action. So I guess when it's heavy combat aiming and conversing ammo dosen't matter that much Smile

When he talked about the survival horror part he mentions that you will be alone and so on. So I think you need to be more careful then, both with the aiming and the ammo.

How come the game looks worse than AVP2010? (Visually, that is)

Edit: Oh wait, it's console footage.

Randy Pitchford has millions of dollars but he always looks like a greasy bum and wears the same clothes.

Meh,first things first...GT sucks.
The whole future of fun bit was so ridiculous,it made me sad.

The game itself looks pretty ok so far, I guess. more than 1 playable character(if i understood it correctly) means lots of mute protagonists once more and the gfx's are a little jagged I might say. Cool Face

Game looks pretty bad, I have to say. Gearbox completely missed what makes Aliens great. Tense horror with a little action here and there. Not scripted shootouts every 20 seconds.

Very disappointing.

It's just like any other cinematic shooter around, nothing more nothing less..could be fun but I don't expect anything mind-blowing.

edit: I hope the sound effects are still work-in-progress because they're really bad :/

I know it's just a preview but it looks scripted as hell to me. If I wanted to see a bunch of action scenes, I'd just pop in my Aliens DVD and see it done right. Hell of a lot more replay value, too.

I'll hold off caring for this game until I see some actual and extended gameplay.

I have to say, the original AVP's marine campaign captured that feel we want so much perfectly. It was scary, tense, dark, beautiful.
This reminds me a lot of Turok. Low production values, scripted "Follow" campaign. Blah.

I will be accused of being bitter for not liking this "fun" game. Crying or Very sad

Original AVP rocked, Leo. I loved that one. It did scare the shit outta me. It was tense. And it looked awesome for it's time.

I'll never forget how the water moved based on YOUR movement. I miss that game Sad. I lost my discs a while back.

It's dirt cheap on Steam and Windows 7 compatible.

Pretty much my view at the moment. The first marine missions of AvP 2010 look way more entertaining than this. It also seems Gearbox have forgotten what happens when you shoot an alien that's on top of you.

Not to mention AVP nailed the scare and tension factor from the original AVP and the alien series in general.

Before i started the Marine campaign i loled at the times when i would turn off the screen in AVP classic out of fear, well i did that again in AVP 2010.

The great use of lighting in the engine helped aswell.

It was forgotten in AVP2010 as well, along with the speed of the xenomorphs (in AVP2010, they were as slow as grandma Laughing).

No, when you shot an alien in AvP 2010 you got acid spray, and while sometimes the aliens would be a little slow it would only be because they were were working their way around you in the shadows. Over times they quite frequently bolted for me and tore me a new one. Having super fast aliens is all well and good, but what's the point if they run through exactly the same path to get to me everytime I play?
