Ok Origin is really pissing me off right now. The download was 80% done when I went to bed last night and for some reason it's back to 15% this morning, fucking EA

im not digging origin either. i dont understand the point of having your own platform in which to buy/download/hold/launch your games, and then rely on an external browser.. its a really roundabout messy way to do it... couldnt they have had all this stuff self-contained within origin?
come back, steam. all is forgiven...

The "time out" isn't a bug. It's just the server crashing. Had that a while when there were fewer servers on so i checked right after i got booted, everyone was and the server disappeared after like 30 sec.

It's just Beta being Beta especially now with the hammering since it just opened to everyone.

Is the external browser thingy in the full game too or is it just a beta thing? Coz that's a terrible way to do it

Terrible or not, that's the way EA/dice made it.
Something I just saw from battlelog forum.
Texture flashing fix:
- Go to the video options.
- Select "Open screen adjust" from the botton left of the screen.
- Use the arrow keys to move the red areas so that they disappear, i.e. match the screens edges.

why oh why couldnt they just have given us a server browser IN-GAME. i can handle all that other fluff crap with your stats n shit on the website, but why not just give us a server browser in the game, so we can easily change servers, or find a new one if the one we're on crashes...
surely having the relaunch the game every time i want to change servers is a pretty clumsy way to do it - theres really no need to have it website based... i thought they were talking about the glorious return of the dedicated PC focused online shooter...

Game launches so quickly, I don't see a problem with this. Better than having to sit through stupid "EA - CHALLENGE EVERYTHING"! intro videos every time you launch the game.
E: btw, doesn't Origin have a web browser? I'm pretty sure it does...

ok well a: origin is opening my default browser, its not doing that stuff within the program
and b: im having problems with the game launching, wherein (as i said earlier) it doesnt restart at the resolution i set it to - it always launchers in a smaller window.. just really dont like how it handles launching the program... but like i said, ill try updating my driver and see if that makes a difference..

You mean in-game like Steam? Yes it does, although I haven't tested it yet.

Any of you guys get CTD ONLY with caspian border? Can't figure this bastard out. Running with a single GPU is fine, soon as I put XF it'll crash within 3 minutes of playing caspian border regardless of ingame settings.
Single GPU apart from the low fps will play without any issues for the entire map.
Can play Metro XF with details however I want and it'll never CTD. Can't figure out what the fuck it could be considering most other people are playing Caspian without Huge issues apart from textures etc.

Nah, don't update. If you are with NVIDIA you'll just get blackscreen with the 28x.xx drivers. Well battlelog bitches me about 257.33 every time I start the game, so dunno what is better..
But same windows starting was in BC2 beta as well, they fixed it eventually. Start in window every time for me too.
And for battlelog it self, they said they can bring updates to it more quickly, as in no need to wait console QA week or two every time there is a patch. SO as long as they update it and make it work great I'm not complaining (and yes, I'd like ingame browser too ((and game PC exclusive))
Oh and there is nice fail/bug list on the battlelog forums, had everything I've experienced and more. If they get that down to even 50% before launch, game is looking good. For Beta it sure feels like Alpha. But then again it was same situation on BC2 Beta. Many fixes were already implemented but there wasn't just a new beta build with them in. I'm really hoping that this time well see the fixes in beta, if they have broken something else & not to report those that are already fixed.

hey does anyone know how long the beta will be available? will it end the day it hits retail, or will they run it a week or so longer (to act like a demo)?

Quote: | Open Beta Server Update
We have distributed a server side update with the following changes:
- Terrain destruction disabled, because it causes problems with people crawling around under the map. We have a proper fix for this in the retail game, but chose to simply disable it for the OB
- Preround is fully activated: 8 players required to transition from preround to in-game; when 8 players are reached, the start-timer is set to 10 seconds
- Fixes for the most common game server crashes reported over the past 48 hours
- Fixes for end-of-round progress reporting to Battlelog (so players will see their progress more detailed on Battlelog)
The RSPs have been instructed to deploy before Fri Sep 30th, 0800 UTC (when it impacts players the least).
Downtime should be minimal. |
