Install HOMM5 and all it's expansions... HOMM4 is dreadful...

Hang on, I was thinking cool a new strategy RPG type of HOMM game. I thought it was going to be like masters of magic or something. Are you telling me its some weird kiddie game?

Probably...but heck did I outgrew it. Tried a hotseat with a friend a few months back for old times sake and we couldn't finish a random map like we used too.

Thing that killed Homm5 for me was the shitty cutscenes. Not only were they boring as hell but the graphics were terrible even for its time.

I'd prefer to read the story like you did in the old ones.

The third game with WOG easily beats out any of the others. The fourth game was rather decent for the campaigns though. It just kinda sucked for everything else.

I have to say Age of Wonders I, II and the expansion totally raped the HOMM formula.

Personally, I've always thought the HOMM series was good, but armies didn't really look like armies. You had, say, a party of five, with unit sizes only represented by a tiny number. Yes, you could sometimes divide stacks, but that still kinda broke the immersion for me. Battles felt more like chess than I wanted them to in a computer game.

In AoW, there weren't unit stacks, there was blood, way bigger maps and heroes could fight (not so much in the sequel). Felt like HOMM but done better. Anyone agree?

I'll still try HOMM5, but it appears that it still looks more like a fantasy boardgame than a living fantasy world.

I played 2, 3,4 and 5. They were all awesome, I absolutely loved HoMM4, it was different and more strategic imo.

HoMM2 - Was fun, dunno how good it actually was, was like 10 years old
HoMM3 - great classic, played it like no other, runs on practically every PC
HoMM4 - different sauce, like it or not, I played every single map.
HoMM5 - fantastic sequel, good new features but the loading time killed it for me in the long run.

Nah, Age of Wonders is a Master of Magic-type game. Very different formula. Don't get me wrong, it's a great series and Shadow Magic actually rivals the legendary MoM, but it's not HoMM.

i played when was launched on a cyrix i think, 166 with 16 megs of ram (not 100% sure.)

anyway, we played hot sea mode, and we had a convention to enter just 1 time / turn in castle, cause it taked so loooong, and had a memory glich.
after 30-40 castles, game was runing out of memory.
fun times Smile.
we played like 16 h / day when we had free time.

For all that had this freeze on game startup with P2P crack (One with reg file), edit the reg file and change the Install Dir and Data dir also change the execPath down at the bottom.
