bad news for you, but you NEED origin to run bf3 in the alpha, beta and retail. |
Yeah, that's what I heard. Up to this point, though, I didn't think they'd confirmed if it was just Origin to verify game-key, or something more. Guess they've got something like OriginWorks (SteamWorks, but for Origin games). Which sucks.
Also, Battelog's server browser is just... Awful. At least give me IPs and a console command, so I can just join a server by IP.
Also, adding the game to Steam as a non-Steam game doesn't do anything. EA have actually (truly) forced another game client upon us.

finnaly joined a game after countless generic error bullshit.
can't see any game options or settings unless your actualy alive in the game,wtf?.
tried hiding in a corner to set gfx & keys,gfx changed ok but as soon as i tried changing crouch from lshift to \ the keybinding menu messed up & wouldnt respond,change to gfx options then tried to go back to keybinding options & menu broke & couldnt get to them.
any changes made in menu make the game windowed,have to alt tab back to fullscreen.
played about 10minutes had to quit out can't use default fucking keys their a horrible layout.
player movement feels robotic & stiff.gfx looked nice though on default which was mainly all high with maybe 2 or 3 on ultra & 16xaf & got about 50-60 fps.
my rig
crossfired 5850's
phenom 965
8gig ddr2 6400
any way of changing keys in a setting file i can't find one?.

lol... playing happily, and then the game alt-tabs out so that Battlelog can tell me I timed out.
Turned most things down to High, or Off, and still lagged. Horribly. Turned Motion Blur Off, and the lag pretty much disappeared.

I kept getting errors to join games, but once I modified the settings for quickmatch (told it no full games) and started using it, I was able to get in games very, very quickly.
It's probably not getting me games with great ping, but I didn't feel it, was still able to finish on top in scores, so quickmatch actually did good for once.
And the game has pretty good performance. Using a mix of high and ultra with 2msaa and HBAO. 1920x1080.
With a radeon 5850 and the BF3 drivers I get 30-35fps outside and 40+ inside.
That was a pleasant surprise overall.

i tried my 'own' keys for about 5 minutes.. none of them worked sadly |
