Well, the "fetch me some shit" quests finally got boring and I got rid of this.

ok what the fuck.
installed it, launched it, BLACK SCREEN. awesome. i love a challenge, long time since a game flat out refused to work...
search around... find some kind of solution, tweaking with the video scr file to make it run windowed... so it works now...
but is it true that the game just wont run if you have dual monitors? is there a proper workaround?

well so far im not really diggin' it. the gameplay feels a bit off.. a tad sluggish and awkward. ill try and get into it more later.
after getting into the game using windowed mode, i put it back into fullscreen and it was fine. now when i launch it, it launches fullscreen without any problems.

I had the same problem. Solution for me was to "disable desktop composition" from the .exe file properties. (same trick works on a lot of other games that don't know the awesomeness of multiple screens)

it just surprises me that not one person in the entire company that made or published it, ran more than one monitor. not one person somewhere along the way had a dual screen setup
i guess some games are just 'meant for a couch and a controller'

Try playing this game with analog controls its way more balanced then K/B mouse. |
actually i DO play every single game with analog controller except FPSs and RTSs. for FPSs just doesn't feel natural. i`ll give the game another go later. now i think i`ll play Crysis, cause i`ve never played it.

He was asking for a way to play without Smartsteam, which is impossible since the so called "co-op fix" needs it in the background.
edit: could anyone direct me to the "it is something" pic with the guy doing expressive dance?

How many of you actually menaged to finish playing this solo ?
Im curious cause I played it solo for like 7 hours and was waiting when some npc joins me in this fight then I saw a first cutscene where I saw my character and.... rest of "survivors bunch" so I decided to read more about the game only to find out if not coop I will play this game totally solo zero npc help even if i see them in damn cutscenes. This is pretty shitty for a good game in which their creators didnt even bother to add some kind of ai help although you see them in cutscenes and some people talk to you as a "group" not single person, lazy lazy lazy from techland
i5 6600 + Silentiumpc Spartan Pro, Asus H170-plus mobo, HyperX 16 GB DDR4 2133MHz, Asus GTX 970 Strix OC, 1TB Seagate Barracuda, BeQuiet L8 500W, Zalman Z9 case, crap monitor

I finished it solo with no problems whatsoever. If anything, adding 3 more characters toting weapons would have made it laughably easy.

Did coop here, only one other player though. Even with just 2 people, the game wasn't challenging at any point. A shame, really. Zombie games lose a lot of their immersion when there's no fear of dying (of course, the fact that there is barely any penalty for dying doesn't help).

I don't understand. I told him how to play it without smartsteam. I don't even know what that is.

Just beat this. What a shitty ending, what a shitty boss fight. Act IV was pure garbage but... I liked all the rest. In the end the game is a fun and satisfying experience, it's just that the terrible incoherent story (and crappy conslusion) won't let it be up there with the best titles of 2011.
Some stats: 49 hrs, level 38, like 32 deaths (like 12 of them in the last part of the prison level).
Anyway, I give it 8/10. Enjoyable.

You're certainly more charitable than me, given that the game was released with a wealth of bugs, some of them game breaking, and the fact that it's also horribly unoptimized balance wise and class wise. I'd give it no more than 6/10.

I know what you say, but I rated Duke Nukem Forever with 7.5/10 (I enjoyed it despite it being bad), so I have to remain consistent with my ratings For reference I also gave:
5.5/10 to Homefront
7.5/10 to F.E.A.R. 3
9.5/10 to Deus Ex HR
9/10 to Portal 2
9/10 to The Witcher 2
8/10 to Crysis 2
Btw, I didn't experience the bugs in Dead Island as frequently as other people, so that helped with the score I rated it.

Alright then:
With a decent save system it would easily rate a 8/10, or a 9/10 even but techland fucked this game with this stupid save system.
