Agree with Baleur,
Game is great except those things and the laggyness.
It's so open and original and it has a lot of potential, just hope they will bring out a huge patch to solve these problems and we'll all
be happy till GTA SA comes Cool

You can't have gotten very far if you really think the only problem with the game is the performance. Don't get me wrong, I like the game, and I would gladly have bought it if the Atari logo didn't scare me away (and rightfully so). It's got a lot of potential, but unless you like walking a lot, the vehicle poof bug completely ruins it once you get a ways into the main plot. How any game could ship with a bug as game breaking as that is beyond me.

Incidentally, I've played FarCry on a machine similar to the one mentioned above, and it ran fine at 1024 with options set at medium, so I really don't think swebarb's expectations are that out of whack. This game has a hard time with that on a machine twice as powerful, and this engine is not as good as Crytek's. Oh, and WoW has no problems with a low end machine either, even with a UI with about 50 mods in the middle of a raid in Molten Core. Stop making excuses for the fact that the game is buggy, unoptimized, and just plain incomplete.

I think finding these guides is linked to your experience level. Plus, you'll need to take a licence test as well. Check the map you got with the manual Very Happy

Take a look at this.. if even this computer cant get over 40fps then tell me whats wrong.

Cos I can't. I get the best computer money can buy. I run Half-Life above 100 FPS on MAX!!

This game won't go above 40 FPS.

First I set everyting to MAX (including Grass, LODs, Filtering) I got around 40 FPS.

40 FPS is usually OK as most games are smooth. This game ran like crap. Very jerky for no apparent reason, even when looking at the ground.

So I set everything to Medium (usually I get hundreds of frames a second) and guess what I got 40 FPS.

I have only played 1/2 hour and then game seems like it could be fun but I wont run smoothly. Im not one of those nerds that usually cares about FPS, I just set the game on Max and play but this game wont run smooth and its v. annoying.

I will tell you why.
Because it's not very well optimized and I suspect a memory leak since after a while (and hour or one and a half) of playing the game chokes and dies

I agree that this game isnt well optimized. With full settings at 1024 and 8xaa 8x af i got 10-25 fps.
When i turned lod at zero the game had 30 fps+
With 4xaa i had 40fps+
Also when i am turning the character i have a big loss at frames.
Surely you need 1024 ram at least for this game.......

Hes right.. after 1 or 1,5 hours of playtime the game is unplayable you need to save and quit the game to fix it

Yeah, I know where to take the licence test but I need to find the book first, and I'm sure someone got to give it to me, but no idea who.

Game runs fine here. Install was quite fast too. Definitely needs a patch though.

LMFAO, if you think that computer is the best money can buy, you really should pay more attention to tech news.

I was disappointed too, I read your whole post and was expecting to see something about a VapoChill Lightspeed, or a P4 840 EE @ 5Ghz paired with 8Gb of DDR2 800, dual RAID+0 74Gb Raptors, and a couple of 6800U's in SLI.

BTW, your speakers out of all things, wont make Boiling Point run any faster. Wink

Just a note.

Got this of a forum:
Here are my tips for performance advice so far

1. Turn music off. It's better without it anyway.
2. Choose a higher resolution with no FSAA
3. Choose Trilinear or Bilinear over Anisotropic.
4. Disable Bloom effect. Doesnt look that great anyway, tbh.
5. Choose Regular rather than Vertex lighting.
6. Disable bump mapping.

7. Set Pagefile to 1.5Gb minimum.
8. ATI users, turn off Fast Write, either in the BIOS or through Catalyst Control Centre.
9. In the game.ini, set the Fog values to:

EnvFogStart=4000
EnvFogEnd=25000

And with me it really works!! the game runs much smoother now..Very Happy

Ok thx but do you know what is Fast Write ? Could disabling it entail performance issues or badest graphics in other games ?
Also I wondered about the fog trick. Is this just reducing vision ?

Thx Smile

I´m stuck in the prison level where you have to rescue a mafia guy. You have to do this at night. I´m following the direction but he isn´t where he should be. I rescued a few other guys but can´t find the right one.

Hm, this may not be the solution, I did that mission for the gov. But he's supposed to dig his way outside the wall right? When I did the mission two bandits showed up outside the prison wall. Or maybe its compleatly different when doing the mission for the mafia?

Thank´s for help, but I think it´s different. I tried it already at nighttime and also daytime but can´t find this guy. Killed all govs in the prison (inside) already.

****update****: Found him in a cell, finally.

If you're getting a "Data cycle redundancy error" on data2.cab, you're SOL. Sorry pal. =\
