The version I downloaded says it's reloaded, but all I have for a setup file is a steam setup file in the iso and then it wants a code. There is a crack folder in the iso.
Any ideas?
no, you must install the game with the steambackup.exe and all is OK, this release is perfect. I have the official steam software installed and it doesn't care about the release. I really should buy this one anyway, very nice game, very fun, not about the story but about gameplay.

just use the steambackup.exe and you can install perfectly.

Yeah I got it installed last night, then after a couple of hours play I realised that I had started a co-op game. No big deal, but should I patch the game or not seeing as I'm going to restart? I'm waiting for one of my buddies to come online so maybe we can have a co-op game later so I won't bother with a SP campaign.
From the time I played it last night it was fun. Certainly more fun than Deus Ex 3 which I'm struggling to enjoy tbh.
Right, all those of you who aren't seeing any difference when editing the 'video.scr' file it seems to me that it is IMPERATIVE that your installation folder is 'DeadIsland', not 'Dead Island' as the steambackup2 creates.
I spent hours trying to edit that fucking video.scr only for nothing to happen before finally removing that space in the installation directory. Voila, everything now works.
Yes, I saw dat page. But somewhere on YT was video with repacking pak0, but as it crashes, it seems game checks CRC. Ok i will try to put changed files into MyDocuments. Cheers.

Anyone know whether you can just alter skill points with CheatEngine, or are there some anti-cheat measures in place? I noticed in default_levels.xml that there are lines such as this for every level:
So would you need to alter the AllowedSkillsCount accordingly if you wanted to have more than default number of skills? I wanna grab all those non-combat skills right away if I restart on a fresh character later.

Well that's funny, changes in video.scr work for me and my game folder is named "Dead Island" (RLD version here).
In that case I guess it's just a tempremental piece of shit. All I know is all morning I didn't have the added effects but as soon as I removed the space from the installation directory and ran the game it looked a ton better (inc the shadows from chain link fences)
Er, kind of.
Applied the RELOADED update 1, then the Update 2 but I'm using the 1.0 reloaded exe, just like DarkRonhrin advised.
Reloaded's 1.1 exe introduces some nasty choppiness.

I honestly don't know why the settings in video.scr decided to kick in then. Have you got them working yet PumpAction? Is your Gfx card set to highest quality in its control panel?
He's surprised you have a games folder in C and not in any other partition.
What does a drive letter have to do with it? I mount all my partitions of all my drives to NTFS folders on C: so I basically have all my stuff on "C:" as well. No point in having million partitions all assigned their own letter anyway.
You generally want the fastest drive to host the OS AND your games, unless you have an equally fast drive available separately. So "C:" can be the optimal choice in many cases - as it is in mine also.

See?
In ur face Epsipoo!
Now, to celebrate, I'll be playing a bit of the best Fallout game ever, Fallout 3.

In that case (provided that the second drive is of same capacity) it's best to set up RAID0 array, ending up having both game and OS on same "C: drive" anyway
