Fuck I wish I didn't buy this game. The multiplayer is P2P matchmaking, no server browser. I cant even join a game either, it finds 30 potential servers but wont connect to any of them. Just sits there forever saying "searching".
Their response is that not enough ppl have the game, that's why waiting is so long. I call it bullshit, P2P is fucking bad, period. Let's wait and see what happens on Friday or later today in the US, but I got a grim feeling about this and I guess it'll be my last game bought from Relic if they fuck it up, at least until they introduce dedicated servers. Imagine DoW3 with P2P multi, hahahaha, god, that would be so retarded...
Well, I got it unlocked via VPN and got connected to MP game after 10s, so you know, maybe it won't be that bad. Anyway, now got some work to do but definetely gonna try some campaign later today
ummmm - first thing I did was join a MP game and I got straight in and it played with no problems - didn't like the set up tho - scans for games and then auto sticks me in one. It seemed quite fun apart from that but I only played one match and then I got straight into the campaign. If MP would be the reason you bought the game then I'd say it's probably not the best reason.
I think £30 or $49 is too much for the game overall. I personally really like it cos it's just warhammer but I'm glad I bought my key for a lot less - it was gamble for about £11 and fine for that price.
I'd give it 7/10 based on the retail price - it's a good 8 if you have a cheap key and worth a download if you are just gonna pirate it and play the campaign.

A friend of mine tried teaching me how to do it and I got it to work if I launch the game while the VPN is on but if I disconnect, Steam just want's me to wait for the release date and stops me from launching the game. Any ideas?

Launch the game from the exe in the game directory - Steam must be running but don't use Steam to start the game.

You don't need the VPN once the game is unlocked - just do what I told Solidamus to do as well.

Yeah, I tried that too but Steam still whines about the release date or the game just crashes. Maybe I should try verifying the files..
I verified the files and it did download something again. But the problem still persists. The game seems to start, or at least the process comes up in task manager but Steam still pops up the message about the pre-load and release date.

(You need that file, create it and enter the number with the games ID in it, use Steam to create a desktop shortcut then copy the number this shortcut URL contains into said steam_appid.txt, also just to be clear the text file is to reside where the game exe files and such are located, often that's just the main game directory but there are exceptions like /bin and such.)
