Yes, but only at specific moments in the story.

Page mentions the wreckage, Taggart is not mentioned in the first game (obviously  ) Even if everything at the facility is destroyed, Illuminati still have the power and resources to spin the story their way and take control just like in the Taggart ending (despite what Eliza says - don't they mostly control her anyway?) unlike the other factions. |

okay, 3.2 hours into the game (thanks steam for statistics) i've finished the first mission.
utter fantastic. it's like DE1 and DE2 married and got a baby in 2011.

According to the game's manual by 2027, 1/20th of the population has been augmented. (Not sure if it's said in the game)

Yes, but that's before the events OF the game. I believe that after the events taking place during 2027, that percentage of augmented people is going to drop significantly.

finished it took me about 24 hours and i did almost everything
- i didn't know i had to talk to Sarif once i got back from Asia so i didn't get the sidequest involving that cop that needs morphine
- didn't 'help' Malik
I did it on Deus Ex difficulty, got most augmentations, even started investing in useless ones. God damn boss fights, i had to cram my inventory with real guns instead of tranqs and stun.
And even though i didn't kill anyone, never pointed or shot a gun at anyone let alone kill something besides bosses, and i still didn't get the achievement, i probably killed someone when i
- stunned a guy and he fell in the electrified sewage
- threw a dumpster at a guard
(no, i didn't throw anyone off the roof)
I don't think it's possible to help Malik and not get detected at THAT point. And somehow i didn't manage to disarm wallmines even with caps.
Hopefully it'll have a FREEEEEEE DLC since i'm pretty sure it sold very well.

Yeah, some serious immersion breakers here. Like 2 guards meet at a point every time.. you take one down..the other guy doesn't get alarmed that the other guy hasn't shown up the last 3 times around.

Yup, absolutely- which is why I say the Taggart ending is the correct one. You read emails throughout the game talking about creating control and how the UN isn't enough. UNATCO is the next logical step, seeing as how the Illuminati already own the UN and the media.

what didn't i do ?
i didn't hack everything since i couldn't, level 5 without a nuke or stopper is impossible (most times).
But i went and searched in every corner in both hubs.
When i got ambushed i usually cloaked myself out of there, sure you could fight off or stunn everyone and get at least 4 praxis points out of it all but they'd be useless at the end.
I could have done it faster since i did some backtracking in certain parts, for example i didn't notice the thing where you had to insert the disk to spread the virus so i did a sweep of everything (all 3 buildings, guards, docs and offices), twice.
@Neon, alright, i'll try this, thanks.
I'll probably do my 2nd run on easy or medium to get through it faster..
