I understand that the long load times only happen when you die in the game right? Not when you launch the game from your desktop and hit "Continue".

That's long too. -.-
And if you alt-tab, it doesn't render so it doesn't load.

If you are getting the problem of running the exe and nothing happening this is how I fixed it.
Users experiencing a crash on launch relating to a ATI dll file.. for nVidia users this seems related to a file in the system32 or syswow (syswow64) folder under the Windows folder (depending if 32bit or 64bit). For a temporary workaround, Locate the atiadlxy.dll and atiadlxx.dll file in the folder and rename to atiadlxy.bak / atiadlxx.bak. This should allow users to start the game

patch was just released, one of the things it addresses is load times:
Code: | This latest patch addresses:
A frequent issue for AMD/ATI hardware users that can cause the game to crash on startup.
Improvements to loading speed. The speed increase depends on machine spec and settings, but loading time improvements of over 50% have been measured on some machines.
Some control fixes:
Diagonal movement is no longer faster as intended.
Adjustments have been made to mouse sensitivity in response to user feedback.
Mouse sensitivity for X and Y axis can still be configured separately, but is now consistent when set to default settings.
The range of settings for mouse sensitivity has been adjusted to provide for more accurate adjusting.
The default mouse sensitivity has been altered to be somewhat less sensitive. |

When you alt-tab the thread goes to sleep. "DontSleepOnFocusLoss" setting in registry, set to 0. |
I will try.
I didn't come to any conclusion, but if turning v-sync off cuts loading times from minutes to seconds in the single digits, it seems like a pretty good guess.

It would be nice if someone who has a legit copy could tell me how many, if any, points you're supposed to get at that point. | there should be one praxis kit lying around in the open in the plant, where the augmentation tutorial triggers, and you should have an additional point for every full 5k points of xp you have. i think i had 2 after the plant, but i did what you did and additionally took everyone out with non-lethal takedowns, which is a ton of extra xp.

Well it's just another 12 hrs till my CE is here, so I'll just hold off playing until then
Seems like a nice game though, but I ended that mission with 9k xp and not a single praxis point... yeah something not right.

Alllllllllllllllrighty, so with all the crazy confusion and BS cracks, and such....
Is there any way to know what version you are playing? I would rather uninstall the game and re-download a different version if I am playing the beta.
(console command? corner of one of the menu's, anything?)

Bottom right corner of the menu. |
In BETA it says: Build: 1.0.499.0 in the bottom right corner of the main menu.
Not-updated Retail is Build: 1.0.618.8

sex or deusex
listening to a woman complain about her day, pay for her dinner / drinks just to get her moist
or turn on pc, log into windows, double click the exe
I know what I would choose.
