The apartment LAYOUTS are mostly the same, as that's what happens in apartment complexes, but the contents are different - definitely hand placed. As for Heng-Sha? I've only just landed there last night, haven't loaded the game yet.

Yeah, I get that the layouts have to be the same, but from the leak they all had the same color scheme, same placement of bookshelves, tables, desks etc; same assets in terms of chairs, fridges etc. Was probably the thing I found most dissapointing since most other areas in the game had that hand-crafted feel, like the old point n click adventures.

As an addition to Sabin's review, Tesselation looks great (I see quite a difference) when turned on. Coupled with FXAA on high (I actaully had only 2fps loss between "low" and "high"), the game looks amazing. Though I must admit my standards aren't very high. All this is possibgle with a OCd E8500 and a HD5850 (if Sarif industries and the first mission are representative), which is damned impressive. Animations suck a bit though, characters are all wooden.
As for appartments being a "copypasta job", I didn't know every apartment in a building was unique.

Nixxes provides answers about the PC version:
Quote: | For in-game movement, we also do not apply any mouse acceleration. We grab the raw mouse delta values from Windows and convert them directly to angular movement. |
About the x axis being more sensitive:
Quote: | This was actually a bug, which we'll be addressing in the next update. |
About hacking the registry to disable OS' mouse acceleration:
Quote: | I recommend not doing this for DXHR, as we use Windows Raw Input for in-game movement and thus do not rely on DirectInput or Windows mouse acceleration (except for the cursor in menus). Changing these registry settings will therefore not affect DXHR - so why risk it?
As for the perceived "mouse smoothing" problems. I'm really sorry that you guys are experiencing issues with the controls, but please understand that there is no mouse smoothing applied in DXHR. The only cause for the delay between your input and the result appearing on screen is the amount of time it takes for the video driver to display the new frame (due to how video drivers work, this delay can be up to 5 frames, which adds up to about 80 milliseconds if you are running at 60 fps). |
So theres no mouse acceleration or mouse smoothing implemented in the game according to them, but there's a bug that makes the x axis more sensitive that will be fixed wih the next update.

Ok, two things;
1. Thank you mister_s! Just on a whim I decided to try your FXAA High setting and it works! FXAA Low causes my game to crash, but FXAA High works perfect, looks great and doesn't impact performance at all. Win! ^_^
2. This is a spoiler related to the Detroit Convention Center;
Spoiler: |
Do you ever get to go inside? There are two achievement-related missions that apparently involve the Convention Center, yet whenever I go there; it's locked. You can walk in a hallway, fight a few gangers, and explore two toilets.. that's it. The actual doors into the center are locked. Do you come back later in the game, or what?
