No man, sorry. X360 and PS3 should have support for x264 soon, but it will be very limited.

Yeah, yeah, but Linux MCE's interface (along with MS' one) are fugly... Sad

But yeah, I guess an MCE could be taught as a stand-alone with x264 capabilities. Just get one with good CPU, because it will stutter on the high bitrate ones (even if the OS is Linux).

i think it will be cheaper to build additional pc with remote, preferably with amd x2 4200 at least, rather than waiting for new format standalone player which as any avi players will have compatibility issues
still there is no single player that can play any file like pc does
