After having read RPS "Wot I think" column, I'm less interested in the game, due to forced on boss fights that are badly made and seem out of place. How your decisions don't matter things will play out as determined by the designers anyway; for instance shooting someone with tranquilizer darts will still give you the sequence where they die with a load of bullet holes in them.
But I'll see on friday, definitely not as interested in the game now as I was before.

The article makes them sound so disjointed from the rest of the game that I wonder whether they were originally intended to be in the game at all (wouldn't be the first time when the execs dictate something be put into a game that goes completely against the developers' vision).

Indeed, it does sound like something I'd expect from square enix to make it more in line with their traditional offerings, which are based around chapter start -> chapter end ->boss battle.

Artwork for the bosses (or at least one in particular) was shown in the first reveal of the game in 2008, so yes they were.

The characters might've existed since the earliest project drafts, sure, but maybe their role and function in the game was later altered because some genius decided the game needs boss fights. All idle speculation of course, but they don't sound like a completely thought-out part of the game.

I'd say these characters were always definitely boss-like but here's what happened:
Quote: | Can you talk about why players have to kill the bosses? Most of the game, you can get through without killing, but why do you have to kill the bosses?
We wanted some choke point confrontations. At first, we wanted to go with being able to put the non-lethal stuff in that, too, but at some point, we had to cut down on some ambitions, because as I said, sometimes you have to focus on certain aspects less, as long as it’s good enough.
So, in the original design, how would you have gotten through the bosses?
The way you could have confronted them would have been different.
You mean like talking to them?
I can’t talk too much about that… [laughs]
Is it an idea you’d consider for future games?
Definitely. |

I'd buy it myself if I had any money. I'll most likely buy it later anyway (I've got the first two already) even though I've finished the pirated version.

I've got a bad feeling that after playing through this game, it'll be another 11 years before something comes close to touching it.

I think that Skidrow is targeting quality now since the famous Crysis 2 *Update v1.9* FLT's NFO so no fast but half-baked releases anymore.
Guess You have to be patient.

You may laugh but I think they are somewhat different now. They don't release shit that often. |

If by different you mean worse then yes.
No release of DNF update.
No Red Faction: Armageddon release.
2 repacks/recracks of From Dust and Shaun White to get it right (...or they still didn't?).
Stolen Ubidrm crack
