Great news this is out! Tropico 3, though a great game, became unstable during extended sessions and I hope they've fixed that with T4.

Windows Firewall 'sux'. Unplug from the net while you play or if you are good at configuring firewalls get Comodo Firewall.

It's all Tropico 3 with a slight overhaul.

- the graphics have been improved a tad bit with an improved UI interface as well.
- the El Presidente crap is still here. I simply don't like it. It would've been nice if it were a city builder without appointing any fictional figure as a leader of your country.
- I can't recall if these were present in the previous installment but you have naturally-occurring disasters as a tornado swept through my city and I had to rebuild one of my buildings afterwards (there's a fast-construction option here that wasn't in the previous games)
- you now have side quests that pop out from time to time like a challenge to export jewellery or fish. Not mandatory, of course.
- new buildings and building categories.
- I noticed that you can add money to your Swiss account more frequently
- we have a new characters playing your ministers and faction leaders with voice-overs
- crime section has expanded. There are criminal citizens. You can imprison people.
- there are blueprints to unlock some buildings
- you can appoint ministers and that part is also expanded as the police. We have the council of ministers which can give you additional missions as well.
- the export system is revised adding more depth. You can now import goods.
- an editor comes with the game. Sandbox environment.
- creating your avatar is the same as in the previous game
- the almanac is better organized
- social networks integration lol wut

But in the end it's all the same game mechanics. Build houses and farms, and other buildings the factions want, pay the workers, lick the asses of the US and USSR (you have other countries this time around as well), export and import if you lack something, and profit.

Using Win 7 firewall here, blocked outbound traffic for tropico4.exe and it's working perfectly.

Blocked inbound and outbound via Win 7 firewall, working fine as well.

Every time I play Tropico I'm reminded of that scene from the movie Bedazzled where he's the Colombian drug-lord.

"Hola Juan! Hola Esteban! Donde esta la bibliotecha?" Very Happy

I like the game, but I have always liked the Tropico games hehe. But is feels like a scam somewhat. Sure, a few improvements, but not worth a new sequel.

The other option is to try everything all over again. Re-install the game while you're disconnected off the internet.

The game is quite boring (if you've played tropico 3 until utter boredom) , it should have been just another expansion for Tropico 3. Guess they just wanted to charge full price.

I like it. I built an immigration office but 'open doors' policy is greyed out. This happen for anyone else? All my buildings are under employed now Sad

Maybe if I build schools I can set open doors immigration?
