To be honest mate, I've been thinking the same thing. Ace Combat always had this fantastical, unbelievable, quality to it. It was like Ridge Racer... but in the skies. This new shift towards serious, real world, realistic depictions is a big hard to swallow. I'm still excited, simply because it IS Ace Combat, but you're not wrong... this "HAWXification" is jarring.

I also really liked ace combat exactly as it was so I'm a bit skeptical here.
It can end up fine of course but it's more likely that it's not what I really want.
I'm not actually a flying sim fan or anything of that sort (I know it's not a sim.. lets say I'm not into aviation in general), it just happens that I enjoyed ace combat.. so if they take away what made ace combat what it was then I will probably not enjoy it as much anymore.
Still, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now because it doesn't look like they've gone completely haywire like the Front Mission guys did.
btw ShadowB, you are completely right that does look like World in Conflict. The similarity is eery...

I dunno, I'm not exactly looking forward to QTE and having my tailpipe fill up 2/3rds of my screen. I really liked 6, but this "Close-range Assault" thing they are pushing doesn't really suit my tastes.

well I wouldn't judge the game by a video of some complete noob flying in circles doing nothing.
gametrailers really suck sometimes.. this happens more often than it should.. where they film some guy who has no clue whatsoever what he's doing and it just looks embarrassing.
