Has this happened to anyone?

I got charged twice for the same order of about 90pounds. I contacted customer support and am waiting for their reply.

If anyone had any experience, do they usually refund that money?

Amazon has always been great in my experience. Once I had books arriving late (a month late) and they gave me a full refund, 'cause I paid for express shipping and something happened on the way.

Dear Customer

Thank you for writing to Amazon.co.uk with your concern.

I've checked your transactions from our side and can see that your order #203-8531965-5686769 has not been charged more than once.

When you place an order with Amazon.co.uk or on Amazon.co.uk Marketplace, we contact your payment card's issuing bank to confirm that your card has a valid number, and has not been reported as lost or stolen.

This is communicated via a full authorisation for the amount of the purchase. However, we do not actually proceed with the charge. This is simply one of the security measures that we use to protect our customers.

Please rest assured that you have only been charged once for this order 203-8531965-5686769.

Most likely, your bank is holding this extra authorisation on your card. Some banks have been known to hold these authorisations for 7-10 business days, and you will need to contact your bank if you wish to have this authorisation removed.

Thank you for shopping at Amazon.co.uk.

Did I solve your problem?

Fuck no it didn't solve my problem. Has anyone ever heard of such "authorization" method, that a bank actually "temporarily" charges your card?

But its the same thing, the bank fucking about.

Yup, bank admitted it was their fault. Apparently they did the same to a whole lot of accounts.
