Yeah but think about it; how many of us (honestly... I know everyone is going to chime in and say "Me!!!" but you're all lying Razz) run the game with maxxed out settings, enough so that we see all the perfect graphics details? I'll bet not many. Benchmarks have been done with i7s and quad-SLi/Fire and still only breaking 30fps average, that's scary.

Per-object motion blur is gorgeous and helps mask the low framerate, but it comes at a cost of HAVING low framerate :-\

But I think it is worth lowering the resolution and running perhaps at a lower framerate, but having all this enabled. Having the option, that's the important thing. You can now set it to medium-high and get 60fps and will look like you say, with things that are unimportant to you. So no point in gimping an engine, just because some of the users think the features are unimportant.

You make good points, sire.

I can run the game flawlessly in Medium or High .. but knowing those "even prettier!" options are there? Well, it's like a thorn in the brain :-\

Hope the PC version cames with all the features Cryengine 2 add and hopefully moder friendly this time .

would like other developers to pick up this engine and see what they could achieve - I really dont like crysis gameplay and all the super hero suite thing.

what is it with you people...you make it sound like that suit is an abomination...what about games that don't have the "super hero suit" and stil have health regeneration and super jump etc,mannn...why do you hate this game so much,am i the only one that enjoyed crysis?

Yes, probably!
If you strip away all the purdy colors in the game and it's gimmick suit than you're left with the story and gameplay, which both are subpar to most "decent" games.

Crytek are ace when it comes making game-engines but are total poop with story and gameplay. In far cry you fight mutated monkeys and in crysis you fight korean's and space aliens....both are crappy sci-fi stories gone mongoloid.

I liked crysis a lot. the graphics were fine but the suit combined with the open levels and physics that let you choose when and where (and if) to attack was really what I lied most about it. I wish there were more shooters that give you some freedom of choice like crysis and far cry.

not sure why there's so much hate for crysis.

I'm sorry mate, but this time I absolutely disagree with you.

Freedom of choice? What freedom? The only freedom in this game is "Do I shoot this Korean guy in the face, or do I run in and grab him with the utterly-useless STRENGTH boost?" You seriously can't mean "freedom to accomplish your objectives" because though the island looks big and nice to explore, it really isn't. Invisible walls and artifical paths galore and there's only ever one resolution to every problem; Get there, shoot whatever is there, wait for next objective waypoint.

Story? Meh, take it or leave it. Everything started ok, but then it went all schizophrenic with the "Koreans! No! Ancient aliens! No! Alien invasion! No! Military experiments!" nonsense.

Physics? Nice enough, but nothing earth-shattering. Being able to destroy shacks with grenades and rockets is nice, but then you come up against the stereotypical "metal!" buildings that you can't touch.

I'm really sorry mate, but Metacritic? Influenced by the technology behind Crysis, because it sure as shit isn't the gameplay or plot (and yes, you can say "But it got 91!! I'll believe that over you any day" - but I think you'll find the general, USER, consensus online is that Crysis is a pixel-fest bore)

too bad. I still enjoyed it Smile

crysis has about as much freedom as you can get in a shooter, it is about killing stuff after all..
in your average shooter all you have is a glorified corridor and you shoot everything that comes at you so crysis does offer a lot more freedom in that department (while still not having a fully open environment like operation flashpoint for example, which doesn't really offer any more freedom either)

May I ask what you expect from a shooter, other than running around shooting things with variations on how you accomplish the murder? i'm trying to understand here what it is that people hate about crysis.

That's exactly my point. It's no different to any other decent shooter - yet it scores considerably higher than anything else. Weird no? Nope, it's not weird. It's graphics. Go load Crysis up and put every option to bare minimum. If the game looked like THAT, all the time, you seriously think it'd have gotten anywhere near 80%, let alone 91? Wink

Hype.

As I said; the game is no different to any other generic shooter - it just has the Nanosuit and the most amazing graphics seen on the PC yet. That's all.

The gameplay itself isn't terrible, but it's sure as shit not worth 91/100. I was talking to SpykeZ about this earlier and my opinion on the Nanosuit is that it's a gimmick, one not even utilised properly :-\

I thought the IDEA of the suit was fine, but the implementation? Shite. You only ever used half the suit functions when the game actually required you to! Armour and Speed are the only ones getting any real usage ... who the fuck uses Strength? Nobody, unless you're a fool who just likes to run in and punch enemies... ooooh, and if you needed to jump up a cliff to get to your next objective! Cloak? Yeah, for all of 2s! Cloak drained power so fast it made the whole function worthless.

Fuck it all. Speed for rushing to the next batch of enemies, Armour for tackling them.

I'll admit I was having fun right up until the Alien part .. then my enjoyment just went right out the window. That, and the incredibly poor performance on all but the most ridiculously top-end PCs (and even machines with Quads and Tri-Sli/QuadFire get raped to fuck) really put me off the game.

hehe, good points!

buuuut

think about average shooters!
think about bad shooters!
and then compare crysis to them.

All Aspect Warfare
Soldier of Fortune: Payback
007: Quantum of Solace
Turok
Legendary
Sniper: Art of Victory
Delta Force Xtreme 2
etc

surely you must see that crysis, even not considering it's outstanding graphics, is vastly superior to those piles of shit. THOSE games are average, THOSE games are bad, and crysis wipes the floor with all of them easily, so why is everyone like... *crysis sucks ass! what a piece of shit! boring generic bullshit! nothing but graphics!*

crysis plays well and has no issues like those of actally bad or average games such as bad controls, bad ai, no gameplay variation, a noticable amount of bugs, a bad interface, too short campaign and I'm sure there is more issues that you find a game that's actually bad but which are not present in crysis. sure, it's nothing revolutionary in any way (I'd say the graphics are evolutionary) but it's by no means a bad game, so why is everyone treating it like it's a 3/10?

I agree that those above are horrific, and they - rightly so - got a wicked panning from each and every review I've seen. They're terrible games (oh and you forgot Area 51 Vomit). My only objection is to people treating Crysis like it's the next messiah, when I'm absolutely convinced that if Crysis was only the game seen at "Lowest" settings, then it would have been given a right lamping from reviewers as well as gamers.

It's not a TERRIBLE game, I'd probably give it around 7.5/10 simply because, aside from the system rape, I was actually entertained by it.

I'm gonna have nightmares tonight!!

7.5 is ok Smile

although I'd still say it deserves at least an 8 because you cannot simply ignore it's great graphics altogether. presentation/graphics is a part of the game like any other.

I don't disagree! It's not like I could go back and still sink obscene amounts of hours into Dwarf Fortress, because ASCII just looks.... meh... to me these days. I just don't think a game should be scored/rated highly because it has sexy graphics.

Strength Mode was actually very useful for keeping scoped weapons steady and lowering the overall weapon recoil.

True, with strength you could hit enemies from one side of the map to to the other lol. Also, weapons shot much stronger with that, so it was also useful in these situations. Smile

Opinions about CryEngine 3 techdemo running on dx9, 10, 10.1 or 11:

http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2009/9/11/cryteks-cryengine-30-set-to-debut-next-month.aspx

Crytek advises to use the dx9 api for multiplatform titles that are going to be released now and dx11 api for multiplatform games that are going to be released in a few years.

According to both Crytek & Epic the new consoles are going to be released in 2012-3 (that's 2 to 3 years from now), and the lockdown for their hardware is going to be in 2010.

And then like you peoples were all like, "YOU IS TROLLIN!" and I was like "I AM NOT TROLLING!! I AM guess_who_kthxbai YOU SEE! Mm!"

Half-assed UE3 wannabe. Stupid Crytek, your games suck and your engine sucks, stick to making crappy PC games with no depth or intelligence so the PC elitist pricks can act like they're better than everyone else because they just bought a $5000 chip and plugged it into a slot.

Us real men don't fall for this shit, right GT?

total shit, doesn't even come close to uncharted 2. nice try though crytek, stick to making shitty pc games that have no story at all and subpar graphics.
- that one has a point though Laughing

And about the engine- don't see any real differences between 2 and 3 besides the physics.

99% of people voted for Nfohump in that poll.

The new trailer was not so impressive.
Console demo though no doubt.

I also enjoyed the crysis games so far.
