I live in Sweden. If I had pre-ordered and received the game from game.co.uk or some other merchant with UK stocks of the game, I would not be able to activate it. The publisher don't want people to import for fairer deals, that way they can forcibly overcharge people for no real reason other than greed. It's unethical.

If you buy a clock from the UK you should be able to use that clock in Sweden. If you buy a car in the UK you should be able to use it in Sweden. But if you buy this game in the UK you won't be able to activate it in Sweden (or ANY other country except for the UK for that matter).

And here's the topping of the cake. They announced this shit only a few days ago.

That sucks. Does this region lock apply to Green Man Gaming as well? I wanted to buy it, but I cannot justify shelling out 50EUR for a game even though I loved the leaked beta build.

There's a american version, a UK and a EU version. Not sure why UK got their own version though. But as a swede myself I can still import from pretty much any country inside EU except UK.

Also wouldn't it work to use a vpn from UK to just activate the game, then play as normal?

What about russian keys? Sure I have russian vpn and special Steam account for games that cannot be activated in EU, but I'd still prefer to have DX on my main steam account...

I guess I'll wait and see before buying it anywhere and do my first playthrough on iso demo.

Not sure? But I think the russian one goes with the EU version? There have just been the talk about the UK-key not working elsewhere...the EU-version seem to cover most other places except well the american side of the world.

I am not 100% sure though.

And yet, "piracy killing pc gaming".

It's not about when the game is pirated but how many copies of it are.

And eventually what matters the most is how many copies are sold, and the console versions sell more most of the time.

Just to be clear to everyone the region lock is just for the retail BOX copies.. ie if you physically buy a box in the UK it will have the uk region code etc, if you buy a boxed copy in russia will be locked to russia, everywhere else is covered by a rest of world region (including poland).

Region lock is only in place for retail boxes in UK, Russia or REST OF THE WORLD.

Big hoopla about nothing really.

But the explanation being "because we didn't have time to put all the languages on the DVD's" is just the dumbest excuse I've ever heard. UK has it's own region since half of Europe usually pre-order their retail stuff from play.com and similar sites.

I'm asking here because the last time asked about fps of an Xbox game in the Xbox section of this forum, people said the game runs "smooth" but it was actually running at a shitty 30fps

Quite funny the amount of nerd rage going on, just because the PC release is a few days later than the console releases.

I would be very surprised if Deus Ex console ran at more than 30 FPS. It's rather standard for FPS on console lately.

There is no fucking way that i'm playing this on consoles. ZERO chances.

Deus Ex was born on PC and on PC it shall be played. I don't care about waiting a little more , i'm not touching any shitty console versions with a 1337 foot pole.
