this game is going to fall hard (IMO). There will be massive sales numbers for the first month or three and then a steady decline to nothingness. Same thing that happened to the Star Trek game.

Haha really they did? Anyway that should not be an issue. Pre ordering at a story to get a physical copy I can understand. But digital? No, not a single good reason imo.

Thy're still releasing games on Steam - Sims 3 Town Life Stuff was just released yesterday. God damn, I'm so tempted to go around a couple of websites and offer to write an article about this; it's shocking that no gaming magazine or site has truly dug around this.
Anyways, there's a good chance (I think) that BF3 will come to Steam, though TOR almost certainly won't be. EA will try and make Origin their own battle.net with TOR.

God Damn... Won a key for Hot Pursuit. Activated on Origin. Installed. Go to launch. "There's an update available for NFS: Hot Pursuit". Spend another 5 minutes downloading the patch. Why couldn't Origin download and install the latest version? Seriously. Grrrr.

or sing up for free ign prime trial ( you will need cc for it, but i doubt thats problem)
and get -15% of any d2d titles , then another 10% for d2d preorders, which leave you with game costing 30 pounds, which is less than 59$, and totally legit

no its for everyone, you dont have to purchase on uk d2d , d2d belongs( well not anymore? ) to ign, how it works that you use same signup for both websites, since its same ign network, and you get -15% discount , and there is global -10% for preorders on d2d, and you get both of them

“I don’t really know what they’re referring to by that,” he replied. “In general with Steam and Steam partners its incumbent on us to create value for those partners, whether it’s EA or Ubisoft or Take Two or any of the other developers who are using it, so that’s our goal, to create enough value so that is makes sense for partners to use the technology, the tools, services and community that we’ve created.
“We’re going to keep trying to do that with EA and trying to convince them that it’s worth it to have their games on Steam.” |

Ouch. I like how he makes it read like he's talking about releasing patches and updates and Steam is an obstacle to that, instead of saying they want to get 100% of the revenue of the DLCs, which of course isn't something inherently evil, which begs the question why spread confusion then?

So, TOR requires Origin, and if you don't want personal data mined, you can't play it. Why is EA so goddamn backwards! Enforced data mining is so late 90s.
Edit: Also, it greatly amuses me that Origin explicitly does something that all the people who hate Steam think Steam does on the quiet - namely, this. Heh.

it is very important to note that not selling, is not the same as not sharing, they will share the info with "partners" in exchange for better deals (like marketing campaigns).
this is not speculation, they declare this as an income source to shareholders
and they still keep track of what programs run in your and websites you visit, i dont care if they dont call it spyware, its just not acceptable.....
i wont buy any games from them as long as they do this. unfortunately i doubt they will change, there are too many derps that dont care about this.
