So, yeah, part of my tooth broke off on Friday and today I got a visit scheduled to see what can be done about it. Problem is, the tooth is ill (caries) so it's either extractin or drilling *sigh*
Fucking dentists, fucking teeth and fucking lousy painkillers...

I just came back from the dentist right now, it hurt, it hurt like a motherfucker, and I sweat like a pig, but once I got out of the chair, and the pain stopped, I think I'm in heaven ever since.
Sing to yourself in your head, or think about building a DnD character or some other nerdy stuff, that you like, and time will seem to pass faster, under no circumstance focus on the pain, as anticipation of pain slows down the perception of passing time. Also, pain tolerance increases, if you clench your fist real hard. Cursing also increases pain tolerance, but sadly, you can't really do that while in the dentist's chair.

The benefits of a covered health care ^^ Altho you can go to a private dentist and there the prices can be hefty...

We have only ~3000 "public" dentists in all the country  , the rest are private and bloody expensive -as usual- (average prices are the same as Norway, even more if you're unlucky) |

Norway's healthcare is heavily subsidised, but not free, unlike the NHS in England.

The NHS is not free despite what politicians claim. As anyone will tell you we pay national insurance every week, and a rip off price for prescriptions. Its only actually free if you are unemployed or an immigrant.

Heh... I was going to post something like "do they have health insurance in Croatia". Which is something completely different. Dentists of course are pretty much everywhere. But can everyone really go and see the dentist, that's the big question. I'm pretty amazed to read health care is more accessible in Croatia than Italy. Doesn't say anything about the quality, but still.
Rich countries like USA manage to fuck up its health insurance system just to not upset the ultra wealthy 1%. And Italy too by the looks of things. Italy is about to fuck up the financial system in the EU right now as well... but that's a different matter.
You can hate me but that's not going to help you one bit increasing the wealth in Eastern Europe. Nor is it going to stop me from pointing out economical problems in non-Western countries. Taking the feedback like a man and working out a plan to improve your current situation is what made Western Europa a stable and wealthy democracy. And Japan and Korea and the overseas former European colonies.

I am absolutely terrified by dentists. It comes from my childhood, during communism, when dragged by my parents i absolutely had to pay some visits to a dentist, who acted more like a butcher. Aged equipment, no anesthetics - as it was the usual in those times, just advices to "man up" (i was 7 yo). Unbearable pain, and since then no dentist ever caught me in his chair. I take good care of my teeth, they are in good shape, just two minor issues. I know i have to treat them, but i just cannot pull myself to do it. I know things are completely different now, but i have this deeply rooted fear.

When I was younger I never asked for anesthetics... but now I do! Fuck those, sadists doesnt threat adults the same way as kids. But for the first time I got a dentist that actually waits untill the anesthetics works. Hate it when they are in a hurry and rush to drilling before it works.

I've never let any dentist drill in my mouth before it works 100% and i never will. If it doesn't numb enough, i ask for more.

I don't get the racist part, unless Eastern Europe and dentists would also qualify as a race now. And I really don't understand why discussing socio-economic problems in Eastern Europe (or anywhere else for that matter) would be racist or taboo. You're not going to solve anything by playing the victim.
Which is also true in the dentist's chair. Take control yourself and tell the dude to stop drilling if the pain is too much.

That it? Pretty sure I paid more when I had mine "extracted" (I'll have a look at my latest invoices when I get home) - granted, I do get 75% of it back on health insurance. The extracting part is completely painless btw. I had both of my upper wisdom teeth pulled recently, you don't feel a thing (well, the anesthetic needle you feel; the one that goes into the roof of your mouth is a fucking bitch). Afterwards your jaw feels like you've been punched in the face, but that's not as bad as the actual tooth hurting
