Patch and DLC.
You'd need a unlocker or modified Steamclient.dll for the game to load it, it's already part of the game files as of the patch (As with most Steamworks DLC.) but needs verification server-side via Steam and your account thus you'd need this type of bypass for it to work.

So if i understood this correctly this update will work (excluding the dlc) over an already cracked v3444 of the game
15:16:50: Graham: what can you tell me about the Sengoku Jidai?
15:17:41: Rich: it was the warring states period that lead to Tokugawa Ieyasu seizing power and 250 years of feudal peace?
15:18:25: Graham: Um. Are they a unit type?
15:19:27: Rich: No, the Sengoku Jidai was a period.
15:19:46: Graham: What's cool about Sengoku Jidai elite units?
15:20:33: Rich: They're new units and they're elite. Anything elite is cool.
Rich adds, "I also have a degree in what's cool."
Personnal note to Rich: No, you fucking money grabber, you don't, I was in college with you and you were called the Bullet-proof retard, so stop trying to look badass

That above is in relation to that DLC with the same name no?
Game updated on Friday or when it was but I never found a changelog, some time later that DLC appears with ten new units (Or some such, one per clan including the Hattori pre-order clan and the DLC clan.), as usual the game updated with the content but it might have had other fixes as well, hopefully.
(DLC itself when bought just unlocks the content with no further download.)
wow after this new dlc our coop campaign is a crashfest
we were like 5 turns from winning, spent like 3 hours trying to do it , but with the Ai hangups and crash to desktop, verifyng rebooting etc.. eventually we gave up
Dont know if you're talking about legit version or not but that sengoku dlc works with the cracked 3444 as well. There's a p2p release and a p2p crashfix/statfix for it
Edit: This game surely is worth the money IF your pc can handle it, runs like shit on mine, 8800gt i am dissapoint !

Yup, only changelog I found is a stupid dev bragging about this stupid DLC (1.99E for 10 "elite" half-assed units such as "bullet-proof samurais"? Yeah, right!).
Fuck those bastards up the ass.

I really enjoyed this game, but when it hits the realm divide it gets too much for me. Fighting on at least three fronts against strong opponenents is too hard. I was looking for a nice trainer to help me temporarily but the the game detects the modified game and says I have a pirate one which stops the game (I have a legitimate copy).
Load Steam, add game to cart, pay, download, play.
Sure.
Acting all righteous on a NFO board.
Nothing wrong with that reply in my opinion. Shogun is worth buying. At least I think so. I pirate all the mediocre shit and buy the good stuff. But of course that's just me

Well see, maybe he's like me - I like to try before I buy. Then if it turns out a game is worth buying - and Shogun 2 is - I order the box from amazon or wherever, where it happens to be cheaper than steam with its sales. Trying to shove steam down people's throats at every corner is really annoying.
Pretty sure that 1) steam wasnt his point and 2) he was semi-joking
Edit: What mods are you guys using? Anyone here tried darthmod yet? I remember trying darthmod for rome total war back in the day and he replaced the advisor with darth vader.. god that was awful.. looking for unbiased opinions here
Darthmod was pretty good initially then it grew to like 4GB or so due to retextures (Correct faction appearances, visual tweaks and much more.) and other stuff integrated to it so I've not tried it in some time, perhaps that stuff has been made optional now.
(There are likely other compilations and stand-alone modifications also being of very high quality.)
I really dig this game, totally worth the price when it was on the steam sale, I don't think I would pay full price for it though.
I was doing really well until the realm divide hit then it became too hard because I was fighting on three fronts. I had to use a trainer for a few turns to get me back on track A shameful display!
As Steam so nicely put Empire Total War and Napoleon on sale too, I bought those as well but I haven't even started them up yet. I have always had a soft spot for Japanese stuff though.
Its 480mb but it probably gets much larger once its unpacked
feature list
Spoiler:
The speed, accelerations and physics of the units are taken to realistic levels so not only the battles feel more realistic but now you must plan your tactics more carefully because the units do not rush like "Fast Forward Benny Hill" to cover your mistakes.
Various changes to morale and battle mechanics create more lasting battles which are not only an enjoyable experience, due to the fantastic combat animations but also they are very challenging, because the AI benefits from carefully made modding techniques.
Projectiles are not homing to the targets but more realistically spread and can miss. Their lethality and accuracy are not as high as in vanilla in a few words.
Increased unit sizes for epic battles, if the user wants them.
Removed all the insane cheats for the CAI, which provided a "fake" challenge and kept a moderate handicap system that reflects better the actual difficulty level.
Diplomacy and campaign AI have been improved significantly to cover the gap of the reduced handicaps. For example the AI invades with large armies consisted of more samurai than archers (vanilla problem), uses ships better, allies are more trustworthy, realm divide effect is reduced so that the clans do not berserk against you, and so on.
Autocalculation of battles works better.
Fortifications have more garrison troops, so now the major AI clans can survive and become very powerful opponents, like the Oda clan.
The economy system is slightly improved to encourage the recruitment of larger armies for both the AI and human player.
Upgrade points for characters are increased from 2 to 3 for a better and quicker character creation.
Several annoying things, for the majority of players, are removed like the projectile trails (laser trails) and the Horo (Balloon). The removal of laser trails in combination with the reduced speeds brings a significant FPS increase.
Increased army and navy control radius in the campaign map for a more strategic positioning system. An army cannot so easily pass by another army and has to fight it, or several small armies can trap other armies.
Better naval battles because now ships turn and accelerate not like motorships but like wooden vessels full of soldiers and also there are many other factors affecting the naval battles including the more realistic projectiles.
Ships have much more movement points that makes AI to launch powerful naval invasions.
Clans have more diversity for their special units, so the AI makes the right choice and builds characteristic armies, for example the Takeda raise powerful cavalry, the Date a lot of No-Dachi, Shimazu their deadly Katana, etc.
+ more audio and visual mods that can be enabled or disabled through his launcher
"realm divide effect is reduced so that the clans do not berserk against you" - it sounds like you should get it Spaceghost
It is too late for that now, I'm too lazy to replay with another clan. It has already taken me 24 hours to get to this point so I will probably just kill everyone and then not play it again.
Rise of the Samurai is now listed in that .blob archive as a DLC (or rather a pre-order incentive for it.) but it's not on the store page yet so I don't know what it is, both Civ5 DLC are also now listed though will not be available before Thursday of course.
