Because I can download and install any software without having to fuck around with the OS
Just recently bought N.O.V.A. 2 and Modern Combat 2 (both HD versions) for just 1,12 euro each by clicking an ad while playing the ad supported version of angry birds rio
It opened a special gameloft store with reduced prices... Not being bound to one source for apps is great

If you root your phone you can install chainfire 3d and play those tegra "only" games on your sgs2 too. I have the sgs2 aswell and nova 2 and modern combat 2 black pegasus work just great
On another note: Gameloft are shoddy developers and I do not like their games. Nova and Modern Combat look good (not WOW impressive, like citadel demo on iphone), but they are not much fun. Bad animations and gameplay...
I have much more fun with a lot more simple games that are polished
Btw fuck you angry birds for your dodgy physics... one time everything is ok, next time the bird won't even break the simplest blocks...

I'm sorry, let me collect myself...

Sorry, couldn't...

Now more seriously, the ad supported games are really annoying to me. All trolling aside, we have a fair share of them on the app store as well, and even if they are good, the ads make then really annoying. Different ideology, I guess. I would rather pirate something and if I like it, buy, instead of watch ads. I have seen claims that it is impossible to make money from apps the same way as app store, but I disagree.

In some games they are annoying (like in sudoku, they are placed right at the bottom of the screen where your hand might be -_-) but in angry birds they are in a place where they really don't "hurt". And as I said, they led me to this great page
http://wapshop.gameloft.com/wapshop-uk/mini/hdplus/index.php?ms_sid=4&phoneId=4917&idf=1&lowprice=true
^^ all games 0.99 pound = 1.14 euro
change phoneId to your phone and you might benefit from the sales too (the phonecode is from my sgsII)

Those claims are bullshit. Most ad supported apps have a paid ad-free version. It's just capitalism at its finest: even for free versions, you still get money - more than you would from paid versions in fact. With less downloads, Rovio already made more money off Angry Birds with its ads on Android than it did on iOS, go figure. Anyone claiming paid apps won't sell is full of shit, what they really mean is that they'd rather cash in from the ads from *all* users.

I just want ice-scream sandwich to be released for phones..especially those with dual-cores
i dont think gb or froyo take full advantage of full clock speed
mine is running at 1.5Ghz
and we need more games optimized for Tegra! Xperia Play has a lot in its library...

Why not? I plug my galaxy s2 into the computer and it's like an usb drive
The 16GB Model I have offers ~ 12 GB free space for this kind of stuff.. the rest is used otherwise somehow...

As long as you don't get the Tegra 2 version, it's good.

There is a tegra version of the sgs2 the 9103 I think (the normal one is the 9100).
And yeah it is supposed to suck donkey balls. slower, more battery usage (somehow the second core is always active where as the 9100 can downclock to 200 mhz and single core when not needed ).

loving my new Defy, Motorola. I had an Ipod 2nd generation and my opinion is that Android is much better and smarter than Apples system.

Android Apps are flooded with Spyware/Malware, on iOS its not that much.
I prefer therefore a controlled Appstore with less shit.
