I haven't played BF3, but if I'm watching the vids I'm seeing COD-style gaming.

"Pieuw pieuw"
"Bang"
"+100 kill"
"Pieuw pieuw"

No teamplay, no great new gameplay elements, only the same old rambo-style gameplay.

And 8 new skins and some maps (or only 1?), wow, what a bonus.
If I'm checking my FREE collection of Quake (1-2-3), Half-Life (1-2), UT (all games) skins, models, maps and mods I feel miserable how hings have changed.

Only BIS (ArmA-games) has my support today. They support their community heavily.

But again, maybe I'm getting too old for this....
I feel you really. There are little to no games that make me really excited these days. BC2 was a fiasco, even though I still play it.

The "hardcore"-community seems to be let down in BF3 again, going heavily casual with stuff like Facebook feautures. And that is certainly not the only game.

Hopefully I'm wrong, time will learn.

Even the retail version of BF3 will be launched from browser?

Some dude asked this on Twitter:

>ChrisSchewanick
will we be able to play the final game without having to use a web browser?

DICE guy replied:

Demize99 Alan Kertz
@ChrisSchewanick Battelog is an integral feature to the Battlefield 3 experience on the PC.

......

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but it seems like he's saying "yes" without actually saying it.

"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

I can only think of 1 advantage: no more annoying intro screens "EA, challenge everythink" "DICE". Yeah sure you could "disable" them in bf1942/2/2142 but it left you with a black screen for several seconds.

I wonder how it's going to work out though, i can already imagine.

"hey wanna play some bf3?"
sure
"ok follow me i'll join one"
ok joining u
*booting up game through battlelog, closing browser*
FAK it's full lol wut
"well shit, i'll find another one then Sad"

I was more thinking they'd implement a overlay like steam does, which basically load a webpage and you can browse servers, etc. Or they maybe implement that battlelog thingy straight into game and build an interface around that...

But I really hope I won't have to load up a website and click "Play now" like in some free2play game such as BFP4F or BF:Heroes

Do you really think that BF3 will be so good that you have to play the beta on day 1? I doubt it in all honesty. Especially since I am quite sure the game will leave little possibilities open for clanwars and such, which are imo one of the few reasons why you would play a BF game on the first day it comes out.

Yes, I think it will be so good that I want to have a try on it as soon as possible. It's ok if you don't feel the same Wink

About launching the game from battlelog. I don't think it's gonna be exclusively that way, we have to wait for confirmation but I think you can browse the server list from inside the game as well.

I prefer an ingame server browser though...but it's good that you can see your stats on your browser.

No problem here, it actually looks pretty neat, fast, efficient to me. But it's understandable that some people don't want to get into the game from a browser.

^ Like demize99 said, battlelog is an integral component of the game so I doubt it will work that way.

I spend more time in the fucking Updating your stats BC2 window, everytime I want to change server or exiting, than entering/exiting Bf3 alpha.
Lucky me i never get kicked by punkbuster.

And even today bc2 browser is shit.

It's looks like you don't play MOH (good for you) but this game is a lot more MOH than BC2.
Lets hope they don't fuck up conquest.

Well I don't see how that would be any better Very Happy as I read everywhere that MoH mp is utter shit. Or are you referring to something specific?

I never say that, on the contrary its a lot worst Laughing
This BF3 feels a lot like MOH, with some ingredients from BC2

Oh Ok I understand now Very Happy Well, I will have to try it myself but I can say that watching the mp videos of MoH I was never attracted to it in the least. However, I couldn't get enough of the BF3 alpha videos on youtube, for me they were just full of win and made me more hyped than I already was. I don't dare even imagine what will happen when they begin showing massive Conquest matches with all the vehicle warfare Smile

Don't get me wrong, in the alpha I got a lot of epic/fun moments, and it's a enjoyable game even with the bugs and the rush narrow map, but it's miles away from a BF2 sequel.

That's ok for me, I'm not expecting a BF2 clone anyways, I'm expecting an evolution (which is the vibe I get from the previews and the leaked videos). Just like BF2 was an evolution from BF1942. I remember lots of people bitching about how BF2 wasn't a "sequel" to BF1942.

I hear you about the features, namely the annoying 3d spotting at least in the way it worked in BC2 was really obnoxious. Also, a lot of people (including me) want the Commo Rose back. Hopefully the devs seem to be listening carefully to the user feedback and for instance demize99 already tweeted today:

Demize99 Alan Kertz
Yes ladies and gents, the Alpha Trial is over. Thats why Battlelog is closed. Lots of feedback, working on all of it. (3D spotting cough)

Of course it doesn't guarantee a thing, but I see this kind of feedback with good eyes.

This game is nothing like BC2. It's different. And let us wait to see/try Conquest, which is the key mode here.
