Steam are being every bit the bitches as EA are, to be honest, though in the end; Steam are going to lose. Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 are both still on Steam, despite BOTH those titles having oodles of DLC that requires purchasing via a web-portal and not Steam itself.

Contradiction much, Valve? Sad

The new rules seem to affect newly released DLC (after a certain date, maybe?)

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Ah, thanks consolitis.. that sounds logical, I guess. I still think it's ridiculous :\ Why shoot yourselves in the foot simply because of DLC distribution? Anyone who thinks Steam aren't going to be losing millions over the loss of SWTOR and BF3 is just.... wow...

Ok, seems (soon to be released && just released) EA games are not available in Steam.

But what about EA Origin? Do they have all the games from every publisher?

Ummm... Yes? No? EA have always been tardy with placing games on Steam, so I wouldn't say that just yet (unless you're quoting from somewhere?).

No. Currently they're just a digital outlet for EA.

Maybe people are getting out of topic here but since we're at it I consider EADM (Origin) better from many points... no stupid install location limitation + not necessary to have the damn thing in your face half of the time are the top 2 in my opinion.

still waiting for that one digital distributor that will sell games at same price as retail, would totally dominate market, and i can but wonder why it didn't happen yet.

i mean origin could obliterate steam if they dropped price by those 5-10 quids, if retail game is 25-30 quids, why is digital 35-40, and you still better off preordering retail copy if you buying new game, as those ship to arrive for release , and from those 30 quid, they get 10 at best from retail, and could get all 30 if they had that price on dd

origin has more expensive prices than steam, atleast for me. So origins can go fuck themselves.. Steam too. Only buy anything from there when there are sales.

Just need someone to slurpdakeys after buying it. Legacy is #216.

There's another new item pack DLC too, DA2_FanRewardPack.exe -- not sure if it's out yet (adds "Arlathan Focusing Crystal", "Hawke Family Crest", "Band of Stolen Shadows") which is #210.

*cough* Don't mean to be argumentative, but retail is a very... broad term. Online retail, yeah, you're right - Amazon are just soooooo cheap, for instance. But bricks-and-mortar retail? The local HMV is still selling Demigod for £20. Dungeon Siege 3 is the same price in the local GameStation as it is on Steam. Portal on PS3? £40 in Game, last I checked, or £33 at Amazon. But, yes, I agree, DD shouldn't be more expensive, it really shouldn't.

Also, this is why I'm so against Origin. They're not trying to gain sales, they're trying to make the most money. Yes, it's a business, but whilst gaining sales means their bottom line suffers, it's generally good for the industry - more games sold means more people who play games, which, long-term, makes more money. EA are defiantly short-term, which when they're trying to make a Steam competitor is just stupid.

~edit~

Now I'm quite aware you said "...local..." which shows that your local area REALLY fuck you on game prices, but that's definitely an exception to the rule.

Online prices aren't the same as bricks-and-mortar prices, mate. Smile Also, some places ship from Channel Islands to ignore/avoid VAT, whilst others just have lower online prices because they can. I'll take a snapshot with my phone if you want. Very Happy

It's also not an exception to the rule in the case of chain stores - HMV, for instance, excluding sales of excess stock (because stock varies dpending upon store) will have the same price whether you're in Sheffield, London, or Glasgow. Because it's a chain.

You don't need a crack for the dlc to DA2 (at least it wasn't needed for the previous ones and for the ones to DAO). All we need is a decryption key obtained from someone who bought the dlc.
There's a batch in the deda2drm_v2 unlocker which is named 'slurpdakeys'. So someone who bought it just needs to slurp his key Razz

No, they're prices from the websites of bricks-and-mortar stores. Like I say, they're different to what we pay in the actual physical store. Trust me. Smile

Also, I know it sounds really unlikely, so I'll take a photo or 2 - I'm off into town in a bit to watch the new Harry Potter film. (Plus, I want to show you how much the average Joe gets screwed when they decide to shop in the High Street. Sad )

What xardas96 said is correct, anyone with a legitimate copy of the DLC should be able to obtain the key with slurpdakeys (and post it here, if they wish).

I was tempted to actually buy the DLC - life's too short to arse about with decrypters and whatnot - but not sure of my bank balance yet. If I do, I'll let you guys know. Very Happy

I don't need to "trust you" -- I'm BRITISH mate. Born and bred. Lived their 26 of my 30 years of life and bought countless thousands of pounds worth of games from stores. Either way, I've made my point and I'm not going to continue dragging the argument on. Your local stores rip you off with games, shame and sucks for you, my Bournemouth local stores are absolutely fine (though preowned console game prices are usually pretty nasty).

So how would one get the key out of the thing anyway, is that decrypt utility capable of such?

Also I can't post a DL link as they use part of your user ID as some code of sorts and I can't upload the actual file anywhere due to it's 900 MB file-size.

I have the DLC (As I think my post shows.), was merely wondering if there was a correct way to acquire the key from it and then allow others to decrypt their downloaded "alternate" versions.

EDIT: Is that it?
