Does anyone know a way around this, please? I've already tried the Saurik (Cydia) bypass in the HOSTS file .. it does NOT work.
Worse is that TinyUmbrella says I already have 4.3.3 SHSH... which is just fucked up, as how can I have the BLOBs for a firmware I've never installed? |
I can't help on that 3194 error, but Tinyumbrella will back up the information for all firmwares that are available at that time, no matter if you have it installed or not.
This means right now, if you save your SHSH files, TU will also save those for the iOS5 beta, whether you have it installed or not. It will always save those files that are currently being authorized by the apple servers.

No no, you misunderstand. TinyUmbrella states it DID backup my EXISTING 4.3.3 shsh... which, like I said, is impossible :\

download older version of itunes. disable anything apple from hosts. go into dfu. and try again.
i always had trouble with sauriks ip. i just remove the apple shit from the start.
itunes always updates when new firmware is out. it blocks older firmwares from being installed. you gotta make sure itunes has no access to its servers. and make sure iphone is in dfu. do it couple of times. it may not work first time. or 2nd time or 3rd. but keep trying until it works. i was in that issue not long ago. it effing sucks. you just gotta keep going and also try different usb ports.

I tried an older version of iTunes. My issue appeared to be the Apple Mobile Softwae. After putting the phone in DFU and running TSS server in Tiny Umbrella, I managed to bypass the 3194 error but then it would need to install Apple drivers which failed and I got the message that the USB device would perform faster in a USB 2.0 port.
I eventually managed to get it to work only for it then to fail with a 1013 error.
I have since used IREB to put the phone DFU and now it is apparently bricked. It appears to have no power at all and the screen is constantly black.
I have Googled and tried several apps to kick it out of DFU but it seems rather permanent!
Ive bit the fucking bullet and am now updating to the latest version in the hope that I get to see something on the screen again!
May the NFOrce be with you always.

Congrats, headshot! Well played mate =) I'm just going to leave mine on 4.3.1, because if I go the hacky/recovery way, it wipes the device. Wiping the device means I will lose my game saves and that is simply unacceptable Untethered 4.3.4 will be along soon enough, so I can wait.
In the meantime, I think I'm gonna get me one of these!

Yosion's Apple Peel 520 change iPod Touch into iphone cell phone. This is really good news for those who want to buy iphones or want ipod touch with talking functions. What is more important is that it can save a lot of money. Actually, apple peel 520 is a type of communication module back on the module, the SIM card slot, still have batteries and related components.
Use a regular sim card to make phone calls with a IPod Touch is now possible with the Yosion's Apple Peel 520. Internally, the case is equipped with a PCB (Printed Circuit board) integrated with Infineon baseband processor that is able to hook up to cellular network to provide 3G voice and data usage. Besides, it has an additional 800mAh battery that is claimed to be able to provide extra standby and talk time with up to 120 hours and 4.5 hours respectively.

Thanks Sabin.
Im not out of the woods yet however. I realised this morning that my network provider is currently not working. I am unable to send/receive texts and calls.
I think something went wrong with baseband or something. Never really read much into it but I may have to recreate and apply my custom ispw.
Are iPhone game saves not backed up during an iTunes backup?
May the NFOrce be with you always.

Good job sir. I am in the same boat and have been trying for 2 days now to figure it out...
Was on 4.3.2 but my phone was messing up so I tried to update to 4.3.3 via TU. Couldn't get away from Error 1013.
Updated fresh via Apple to 4.3.4 and now trying to downgrade to 4.3.3 but I get Error 1013 every single time.
All Google results I am able to find talk about the baseband not updating properly or some shit, which I could care less about because I am on the AT&T network anyways but I can never get past Error 1013.
FYI: For those deleting things out of their host files, that's a bad idea, your host file is the thing re-directing you to TU/Saurik. You need that to spoof the iTunes upgrade check, otherwise you'll get denied as Apple only signs 4.3.4 right now. Deleting all the entries just sends you to Apple.
As far as I know, Error 3194 is Apple rejecting your IPSW for not being 4.3.4, which means you're NOT contacting your local TU or Saurik.

Your phone doesn't always need to be on the firmware version that gets you an SHSH saved.

That's just.... odd!! How does that work then, mate?
Oh and I can promise you; I was getting 3194 *despite* the Saurik/Cydia redirect WORKING in the hosts file. Redirect or not (and I did four reboots just to repeatedly test it) still gave me 3194 error. I just gave up in the end.

Man, this is some fucking bullshit.
MuscleNerd and his pack of noobs always shouting to save your SHSH blobs and it's fucking impossible to use them.
Had to settle for tethered 4.3.5

1013 isnt bad I dont think. It puts the device in a continuous loop but there is a fix to kick it out.
sn0wbreeze ftw |
Tried every fix and trick imaginable.
When I use sn0wbreeze it results in an error 1600 every time.
Anything else I get 1013, every time, no matter what.
Even tried multiple versions of iTunes (10.2, 10.3, 10.4). Just not gonna' happen for me.

My wife got a 3G 64GB IPad 2 with 4.3.5... And it needs a jailbreak. As I don't know anything about the procedure nor the involved risks, I could use some input folks

I am currently on 5.0.1 jailbroken, iPhone 4.
Is there any way to upgrade to jailbroken 5.1.1 maintaining / keeping all of my downloaded apps / games / game saves?
I CBA to download them all again and start all my games again!

As far as I can remember you always keep your settings when updating the firmware. It's only when you do a "restore" that you lose them. You'll have to JB again though, that's something you'll lose.

You can also do "Transfer Purchases" in iTunes to save all your apps. ;p Then when you jailbreak again you can move them all over again... much easier than re-downloading everything.
Although, like sabin says, they should all stay if you update and you just need to jailbreak again. I think there was a mandatory wipe/restore when moving from iOS4 to iOS5 but you're on 5 already, so you should be good!

I will just upgrade
As for "Transfer Purchases", yeh I could BUT I don't use shitty iTunes |
Haha.. yah I hate iTunes too but I do use it once in awhile... ;p
Also, yes, your apps SHOULD stay on the screen, they will just crash immediately if you try to open them. But I'm pretty sure they won't erase or anything. Or if they do "disappear", I'm pretty sure they will re-appear after jailbreak.

Well looks like I was unlucky, tried to update from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 today and it went fine, left all the standard .IPA apps but when I went to Jailbreak it gave me the Error5 error with Absinthe ("You must erase all content and settings") and Redsn0w gave Error 2000 (same thing really) --- so I had to BLANK my iPad to get it to Jailbreak.
All my saves. All my apps. All my settings. Gone.
I tried PKGBackup and it didn't show a single file that could be backed up. I tried OpenBackup and it only backed up 200KB. Damn. I hope your luck is better than mine, Horror!
