Two but quite enjoyable and highly user-accredited games. I have no doubts that Dishonored will be a blast. Very Happy

It's not Source for sure, Source didn't even run on PS3 until recently.

Design reminds me of Brink so it could be id tech 4.
It doesn't look like UE3 but the team has experience with it due to their work on the canceled LMNO.

Or you know.. It might be their very own engine.

~edit~

Actually, it's more like two games - since Arkane only did the animation/design for Bioshock 2, they didn't create the actual game itself.

Exactly, B2 wasnt a gem, but was playble. Now Arx and DM were great so:

They made 2 games, 2 games were great.

Hell yeah, baby! ^_^

I have no doubt this one will be friggin' awesome too, but GOTY before we even know what it is? No. Better than DX3 (considering what I've played and seen?) Highly doubtful Very Happy

Fucking amazing! Thanks!

Quote:
On the type of experience that they want to deliver "Games can either be described as rollercoasters - which is all crafted and very high-drama - or that time when you were 16 and you and your friend broke into an abandoned house and you had the most intense moments waiting for the door to open, and then there were moments where, 'Ah, I expected something grand to happen but nothing happened; it was just an empty room.'" He (Harvey Smith) said that they want the latter.

Going anti-call-of-duty. Awesome! Even more hyped now!!

Good god... thanks steel, that was a fabulous read. I'm really looking forward to this game, even more so knowing it's due next year. Nothing irritates me more than hearing a developer announce, and subsequently start hyping, a game 2-3 years prior to release date. Looks like Arkane have kept this nicely under wraps until now =)

Surprised @ the scans/infos

(from the interview) "I definitely did not look into other videogames or films to avoid cliches, because right now there are so many sequels and sequels in the videogame industry and so many IPs that are known, so my strategy is always to go the other way and start from scratch"

I hope that's a good thing and not a Stephanie "I'm a dumb whore who doesn't research source material" Meyer style goof. The useless slag doesn't read other vampire literature, or watch vampire movies, because she's afraid her ideas might have been copied Mad

I think we can be sure that sparkling vampires are, in fact, an original idea of hers xD

No bugs here. Game runs flawlessly and is the very best example of how to make a first-person melee title.

This. Never understood why everyone said that the game is very buggy and has a lot of flaws, thus taking so low scores everywhere. That's definately not the game I played. The game I played was almost perfect without any bugs.

That version was pathetic from what I saw. They even put classes to choose from instead of having the freedom to build your character how you wanted, because you can't get the derps confused, right? Laughing

Dark Messiah has terrible framerate at certain levels or scenes for me. Really really bad. As for bugs I didn't encounter a single one, but I have the legit version, while the cracked version didn't get the 2nd patch so that might be why some people have bugs.

Never had problems with performance in any Source game. I even have a friend that played the game nearly maxed out on a 8 year old or so, slighly upgraded over time PC and ran just fine. Maybe there's something that you have installed and the game doesn't like or some other thing like that. As for the patch, you're wrong. Both updates were cracked by Vitality if I remember correctly.

Framerate used to be pretty bad for me too, back during DMoMM launch and the hardware at the time was my old 6600GT, it's absolutely fine now on my current system.

Sorry DR, I don't believe for a SECOND that an 8 year old rig played DM maxed out. No fucking chance.

Hatred cracked the second update but it just doesn't work.

As for performance issues the Steam forums validate my complaints that it often performs terribly even on hexacores. Maybe not for everyone, but it's a common issue.

The cyclop attack at the beginning runs between 15-40 for me.. And I have hardware that was released years after the release of the game.

I was wrong. The first update was cracked by RELOADED and the second one by HATRED.

Well, I did say slightly upgraded over time, didn't I? The PC itself was about 8 years old from what I know. I also didn't say maxed out, but nearly maxed out. I don't know why that seems impossible to you, but I always saw Source games running on pretty old hardware on pretty high details. Hell, I used to run the HL2 games nearly maxed out without AA if I remember right, on a, what is now, 10 years old PC (P3 at 800mhz, 256MB SDRAM and a GeForce 2 with 32MB), but indeed some options weren't available on that card so when I changed it with a Radeon 9250 everything was perfect. That PC used to run some games from 2008 too after I finished upgrading it, it still runs just fine today.

2011 -8 = 2003. The HELL a 2003 PC ran DM without performance issues. The hell it did. I'm not going to waste mine, and your, time on this... it's simple fact; a 2003 PC never, not ever, ran DM without performance issues. Not unless you were running it on the absolute lowest settings and lowest resolution.

If you still claim it did, then good for you, let's just agree to disagree and not bother fighting over it.
