Man, what is the fuss with HBO? I keep trying to watch these series like The Sopranos, Boredwalk Empire, Treme, John from Cincinnati, True Blood, etc. and can never get even halfway thru a season. Compared to Mad Men and Breaking Bad, they are pretty much flaming turds.

Dunno for me The Sopranos are fantastic , Boardwalk Empire is great , True Blood is just silly - entertaining and funny - time waster...Treme and John From Cincinnati I never watched. It's just your taste just like mine or some others , nothing else..
BTW , I just finished watching first ep..it was fantastic..now again , the fuckin wait..

Let's not forget that HBO also brought us epic series like Six Feet Under, Rome, Deadwood, Band of Brothers, The Wire and Oz. But I agree that Mad Men and Breaking Bad are infinitely better then the HBO series you mentioned. Except for the Sopranos which for me is definitely on par.
