I think the mods are not to strict and are just right.

although i do think they have their work cut out due to the amount of asshats that cant be arsed to read the FAQ.

idea. isnt there a hack for phpBB that will detect certain words or phrases in a post and replace words or not allow the post? i seem to remember there was a few years ago, unless i am dreaming. then you could save time on moderating threads by stopping the cretins posting phrases like "any you guyz no were too downlaod?" or things to that effect.

That could stop real posting though, there are times where downloads are meantioned in the legal way, plus this forum is here to discuse downloading, just not, how, why, where, etc.. Razz

We could block the word TORRENT though Very Happy

You don't need a hack... just a simple php function... I think it could be used to cut out flaming words... :]

And the mods I think are very fair... Smile

Hey, I like to eat pie, you I like to play with my self. I really really hate your oh snap I just wet my self guts! I hope you rot in hell, I like to eat pie.

Rolling Eyes

It should rather be used to monitor for words like; where, how, download, link, please, can't, etc in one post and then automatically report to the moderator/admin thus closing the thread in time Very Happy

Flaming is here to stay. Even if mods don't approve of it, it will still continue. It will get wittier and more hard-core. Sooner or later we won't be able to distinguish a real post from a flame.

I’d really love to see something changed. Like the policy on spam Very Happy Spam keeps this forum alive, somewhat, but it’s gotten out of hand. Almost each and every thread goes out of topic and becomes a spam-fest. Crying or Very sad

There you are totally right. A bit off-topic isn't bad, it makes some thread a little moer entertaining to read, but it has gooten way out of hand!

I'm trying to keep this off-topic stuff as low as possible in some forums.

- Are the moderators too strict?
No, they are not IMHO. I see often released without the template, and that was really good. So absolutely not too strict.
- Has the board improved since we started to enforce the rules more?
Dunno this, but it has become now less strict IMHO with the template, but dunno about the rest.
- Are there enough moderators or are there too much?
There are enough, absolutely not too much.
- should the rules be a bit less strict?
No, its good now. Like requests, ban forever etc, it is good now IMHO Smile

//EDIT:
I agree with this:

Got to agree, however in some forums we do *need* off topic stuff to a degree. Its very easy for a conversation to become more diverse in real life, this should be the same on a forum, so long as eventually it does come BACK on topic. Area's like "general chat" should be used for, generally chatting Wink, even if the topics do change from time to time.

Maybe passing ownership of threads to the thread creator in certain forums, if they think they're thread is getting silly its there call to ask a mod to help, until then it should be left alone (unless flaming is included)..

Can't believe I was temp banned for that. I wouldn't mind if the moderation was consistant, but when you get people calling each other inbred fuckers and niggers and they don't get temp banned it hardly seems fair.

I think the moderation has become a little bit too strict and to be honest i hate strict forum where people get banned for the smallest reasons like Animal Mother's remark. I joined this forum cause I have seen it wasn't all that tight people were arguing, spam was going on, but not TOO MUCH the mods would jump in when things got out of control. But now small things get deleted, small things that seem offensive and you get banned and omg... if your sig is just a little over the boarder you get PMed to resize it etc etc. This forum got alot stricter since I joined and I don't really like it....

Post a game thread w/o a template.. I cut ya. Back sass a mod(which i'd be) like they are in this thread... I cut ya. Count yourself lucky for the time being, till i get my mod powers. Haha Pizda, you have no idea man, I've had people requesting and telling me to f- off constantly, and I PM'ed them warnings and let them off.

I always tell flamers to cool it before I ban them. There is a lot of leniency you just don't see it, you only see the bans.

As for people saying there are some unactive mods, there are times when we take leaves of absence from personal reasons, but we always declare it to eachother before we do.

I think that nforce.nl has lacked consequent moderation for a while which resulted in threads and members that became a bit out of control. Now that we are moderating again with a set of rules (that actually isn't that strict if you ask me) people notice that they can't get away with anything anymore and some don't like it.

Arguing is one thing, but people get offended when they are called names so we don't tolerate that anymore. Getting tempbanned for calling someone jackass...maybe but it was a tempban and I think that AnimalMother gets the message. The fact that others are getting away with much more flaming is a fact today and it is regrettable. Feel free to use the "report to mod" fucntion or PM a mod whenever you see someone flame. This way we can react accordingly.

Spamming is another thing than going off-topic for a few posts. Off-topic posts actually make threasd fun to read most of the time, but this has gotten way out of hand! In every forum there where threads with 10-12 pages of complete bullshit! It's not very funny when you've created a thread in which you ask a question or wanna start a discussion and all you get is loads and loads of useless bull.
Also certain forums here on NFOrce are specially created for all the "spam" you wanna write. "The Useless Void", "General Chatter" for instance can be used to a great extend for all kinds of crap.
The "PC Games Arena" on the other hand should be pretty clean of this. This forum is for games info and discussion. I don't wanna read the same bullshit in this forum as I can read in the "useless void".

The sig is another fine example. People made really extreme sigs that where just too big, way too big. Threads where not pleasant to read anymore. And yes, you could disable sigs in your profiel, but that again makes the threads boring if you ask me. Sigs are fun and give members character. Therefor we made a rule for sigs and started to ask people nicely if they could change their sig. What happened was that members just ignored us or PM'ed us back telling us where to shove that rule.
That's where people start to cross the line! We mods where not asking you to sell your mother or give us all your money, we just asked people to make their sig smaller. I don't think that it's normal to get flamed or just ingored for that as a mod! Some members here just think they can get away with it.

I have used the report to moderator button a couple of times, but it really depends on who is reading this report i guess. Sometimes nothing happens, some times the thread gets locked and in rare instances someone gets banned. Seeing Animalmother getting temp banned for his comment is way out of hand, i can show you a lot of other threads with real flaming going on and no consequences. So NFOrce should come up with some kind of corporate moderating rules for every mod, because right now it is simple luck if you go away with a flaming or request or not, depending on the mod who reads the thread frist.

@sTo0z: To the unactive mods topic: I don't think we criticize some mods for being lazy or somehting, it is just a fact that some ppl with mod status who hardly visit the board can't actually moderate, because you need to be online to moderate, at least to moderate the threads Razz Right now we have a couple of mods who "visually" moderate the threads and who spent a lot of their time here and who are doing a good job. By the numbers NFOrce might have enough mods, but a lot of members in this thread think that there are not enough active ones.

the reporting button makes a message in a special IRC channel so that every mod on IRC can see and react. This should be picked up more I guess, you might be right there.
We have recently made a new ruleset and guidelines for mods. This should be used by all mods. This way there should be no execptions.

Would you members like to know what these rules and guidelines are? If so I could ask the admins if they agree on making our modrules public...
