There will be a beta of CS:Source released over Steam for people to play this Summer!
The downside: You need to own CS:Condition Zero in order to be allowed to play it.
Not like anyone has that stupid piece of shit game, go to hell valve with your greedy marketing shit, I wouldnt even buy Condition Zero even if I'd get a beta of Half Life 3!!!

with any luck you'll probably be able to downlaod it with the same amount of ease to get cz for free off steam hehe

how stupid are u. CZ is just used to promote it. with that update thought u will see new player skins new maps new everything. i personally think this is a boost because we will see how well the genre has progressed both graphically and physically. i wouldnt buy cz for the source d/l but thats just stupid who would? plus i already own a legit cz now and it is worth it

Well i think CS:Source is cool though not as cool as HL2 And Doom3 and besides the only way CS:source could be made was because of Hl2's Source engine..

Sublime, did you say that you bought CZ and you're happy with it? damn, that's scary. It looks just as crappy as counter-strike and is still absolutely the same, how can you pay the full price for a 6 year old game?

Dang, I think it would be cool to play, and if I owned CS:CZ I'd definately be excited... but it's not worth getting the game just to beta test.
I have no problem waiting for HL2 to hit and get it then.

Cliffe and Gooseman(?) did develop CS and another dude, and Cliffe is an employee at Valve now and is calling the shots on CS:S.

valve employed the people who made CS to make CS Source..
I would do a lot of things to play the beta (have a CZ key) but not buy this game... it's not even worth it since everybody still play on the old version

swebarb thats a low judgement to make. its not a crappy game, graphically yes but the ways in which you need to adapt rather than just run in holdin down the mouse button and jumping i.e UT2k4 boost this greatly. CS:S will use some of the good bits from hl2 i.e the physics and put it on cs. this will surely be a good game. also yes im happy with CZ. 13£ for a game i play every day who wouldnt mind that?

Sounds likely though... I mean, multiplayer in original HL was pretty mediocre, why even bother when they got CS? (since CS obviosuly is popular for some unknown reason).

And you're saying CS is not about running around jumping all the time? We must have played different games called CS then. If you want a real shooter that's not about running around hopping while shooting all the time, then you should play Rainbow Six. Jeez!

I think red orchestra is alot better, playing that for UT2004 at the moment.

in '98/'99 i would have bought cz, but come on its 2004!
No way id pay for it just for a beta, infact even if somebody gave me a legit copy of cs i still wouldn't bother with the beta.
Ill admit that CS is probably one of, if not the most successful game for the pc (i dont know how it weighs up to some console games), but damn if CS:Source is just halflife 2 physics and graphics stuck into the original boring CS then ill be pretty dissapointed.
Sure ill probably try it, but if thats the case ill lose intrest.

and werent there some traces of HL2 Deathmatch with HL2 weapons in the beta too? I think it will be an addon for it that you can optionally download with steam just like the current CS and DoD if you own HL2.
About CS, the graphics suck big time by now, but that doesnt bother me. It's the crappy HL netcode that ruins it, you can shoot a whole M4 magazine at an enemy while beeing 1m from him and you might just hit 5 shots because bullets fly through enemies, it happens all the time.
So I just hope that Valve created a Netcode that matches UT rather than just getting better graphics and physics.

will give over 200$ for a beta now
