If your friends don't have an account, what exactly do you think you'd do there? It's exactly like the Wave beta at the beginning. You'll see the UI and go "cool, now what the derp do I have to do here?" and never visit for months. Exactly the same as having an empty Facebook.

Actually I found this one to be fairly easy... FB on the other hand feels very complicated for me. |

Um, to "invite" someone, is all it takes is to add them on Google+? I've added a friend but he hasn't gotten an e-mail like I did when I was invited..
Or it isn't much of an invite, it's more "Person X has added you" and then a link to sign up..

I have no idea lol. I add a person to the circle, and then post on the circle. The post invite invites them to Google+. They also said they limit it every hour.

This is waaay too complicated to be successful.  Think of it from derpa derp perspective (or your mom's or pop's )... Circles, dragging, dropping, sharing, .... too complicated. This is aimed at a relatively tech crowd, and is bound to fail if it attempts to compete with Facebook.

The adding is actually not officially supported at the moment. And if you want to use it like basic facebook, it shouldn't be complicated too.
Easiest for me to ass a person was -> I just type a message on my stream that I want to share and in the line where you select who this is aimed at, I just type the email address of the recipient. If he has no google+ he can join through that link
