Removing the three DLC files will do nothing as far as locking cards/decks. They are just placeholders for future expansion packs. If you unpack them they just have the same generic placeholder xml files for all three files.

So the theta version has additional persona icons.. and most importantly no gayass rainbow foils on the cards... great.. now only if it could be used in MP instead of the skidrows..

The skidrow version has the persona icons as well. Unless this one has even more. Because there are quite a few.

But I'm going to grab this anyway just for the chance that the decks and cards are not unlocked by default.

Theta's version doesn't have them unlocked, you have to progress through it, I can confirm that.

It's a completely new game, not merely an upgrade.

New and better AI, 10 new decks, new campaign, new co-op possibilities and a revamped interface. The name just makes it sound like it's an upgrade.

It's a completely new game, not merely an upgrade.

Plus, it's not like they're charging the price of a full retail game. $9.99 (or whatever it's jacked up to for the Euros) is a decent deal for what you get.

They would never have truly custom decks in these sorts of games, it would cut into the profit of MTGO.

I sold almost my whole collection for flying money. Only kept my complete set of revised and two other smaller (and mostly worthless) expansion sets.

I quit playing when they started changing rules every year and the game became more competitive instead of fun for me. I miss the "ante" days Very Happy

Still, I have fun playing the casual games like these. MTGO is everything I didn't like about the game concentrated into a digital form with guys that whine if you don't play exactly how they expect you to and then they rage quit

There is a lot of complexity in the new decks, but the design is horrible. Green is all about elves, red has dragons everywhere and fucking black became emo vampire squad.

I'm with dodger2020 here. Magic is still good for these casual game, the rest is too commercialized.

I'm with dodger2020 here. Magic is still good for these casual game, the rest is too commercialized.


Garruk's deck is full green and doesn't have one single elf in it actually (the rangers are human).
Chandra's deck is full red and only has one Flameblast Dragon in it.
Koth's deck is full red and has no dragons.
The only one you're right is Markov's deck.

I'm talking about magic in general. You can't deny that as soon Twilight became popular, there was huge intake of new Vampire cards that artistically look heavily inspired by it.

I finally found the other release of this that doesn't come with everything unlocked already. MUCH better to play it that way.

But the damn thing refuses to save my resolution. Saves everything else but every time I start the game it's reset to 1024x768. grrrr

Try changing the settings in config.cfg, then make it read only so the game can't mess with it.

Ahhh, ok. Had no config.cfg file. Didn't realize they were saving that into the installation folder, which if you just keep the default, won't work unless you run it as admin. I figured they weren't doing that since the progress is saved, just not the resolutions. No worries. Just ran it in admin mode once and it created the file.

i've beaten the 'campaign,' 'archenemy,' and 'revenge' modes in about 5 hours give or take. i must say it's one of the worse game ever created. Twisted Evil

you constantly get bombarded with cards in your face. you have to keep pushing the continue button every so often or else the game drags on forever. Crying or Very sad

while the artwork is great to view in 2560x1600, that's about it. the sound and game mechanic just gets tedious and annoying after a while. Sad

don't expect a nice video when you beat the game either. no sir. we too poor/un-talented for that. instead, we open up your web browser and take you to a web page to join our web site. yes, sir. that is your reward for playing our game. it's like a middle finger to the player for all your time spent playing through the three modes. Rolling Eyes

xb360 pad works somewhat. there are no onscreen hints showing you what button to press so you're left to guessing. Mad

i'm sure folks who play online would get a kick out of it. otherwise, zero replay value. Evil or Very Mad

The first expansion for Magic DOTP 2012 was released today on Steam.

$4.99 for -

3 new decks (Black: Zombie and Discard focused, White/Green: Super-buff a few weak creatures, Blue/Red: Early burst damage).

4 new cards to each stock deck

Ability to play as the Archenemy in a new campaign and in MP mode.

The ability to play as the archenemy in a 1v3 is super fun. The new black deck is a major pain in the ass to play against, and is probably going to replace the old mono black and mono white decks that 80% of online players use. Not sure what the effective counter to it is as it's discard focused (and not tiny creature focused like the old one).

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
