But now i only have to put some cables correct only i dont know where to put what where and i think i have done everything correct now only not my power cable. I have a tagan 480 watt but it has like 15 cables on it and i do not know wich one to put in my mobo ? Can anyone tell me there is one big cable and i think i need to ut that on in but than i still need to put a small cable in my mobo to and i dont know wich. This is my first time i have ever put a computer together so dont you go noob on me please Very Happy. And if that is done i have 2 hdds and there is still windows/data on it because it took it from my old computer, what do i do first? install drivers for mobo and gfx card than reinstal windows or something? I hope i can still be able to access my mp3 that i downloaded on my last computer..

thanks in advance.

ps, it took me 3 hours to put it all together just by reading the books i think im pretty smart woohoo Twisted Evil

well what kind of power cable does your mobo require?
Either its a 24 pin or a 20 pin connection? You can count on the mobo or on one of the big cables from your PSU. Hmm though try out with the small little cable, just look the pins and try with the different cables.

Though keep in mind that the new mobo might not detect your previous windows installation and it might give a NTLDR is missing error on boot.

Hmm I think u need a converter then... hmm try connecting one and then boot... Though try also to consult the manual since the "connect-and-boot" might cause a malfunction.

Also some mobo's have a four pin socket too. You have to put that in as well as the larger cable.

What exact kind of tagan psu do you have. And can you replace it? I have looked at their homepage and they have dual psu's:

http://www.tagan.com/pages/products/2forceS/e_tg480_u22.html

If you have this one you should have no problems because you have a 20/24 pin solution. Some intel boards require this thats why there are 20 and 24 pin connectors.

To your other question. Your case should have some wires for power reset and other stuff, Look up in the manual on where to connect them on your board. The power sw cable usually has black and white color, but all connectors should be labeled anyway. Good luck with your first home build system Smile

Maybe. Some mobo's have a fourpin socket some don't. But if the motherboard does have a four pin socket you have to use the four pin plug. Are you sure you PSU has a four pin plug? If not I'm not sure if you can get an adapter.

If not, you'll have to get another PSU.

Ahh just checked the PDF file. Okay do you see the light blue connector. Use one of those.

no no jenni, we are not talking about this "intel" special 4pin 3.3v plug. Only some old intel boards/chipsets used that. TheSaint needs the four pin plufg to make his atx power connector to a 24pin connector.

I didn't know that amd boards had these too, good to know. But still this is not what we are talking about i think Razz

New Intel boards (i don't know about amd) do have a 20 pin atx power connector. Older boards do have a 24 pin (in one plug) as a atx plug.
The picture below shows what i mean, you put the small one in the atx power socket. Or was it the other way around, now i'm confused Confused Laughing

Okay heres what I would do if I were you. Am I right in saying your large connector from the PSU is a 20 pin?

Plug that into the 24 pin socket making sure you have pin 1 to socket one. Then plug the 4 pin into the 4 pin connector. If that doesn't work, plug it into the other 4 pins next to the 20 pin connector.

No i dont think you can mix one of the blue connectors with the 20pin atx power plug. You have to use the black one wich i posted in the pic above (if you want to put those two together in the 24pin socket.

The following pic shows nicely what i was talking about Smile
