Judging by how long someone play etc. could someone tell if this is better than Fear 2?

EDIT: and how optimization looks?

Optimalization is decent and Its the worst of the series. Its boring, horrorish maybe for 3 years old and stuff, big disappointment.

Correct, but the DaRkSiDe one should be good, as it includes the latest patch files, a working crack, and everything's there (nothing is ripped). In fact I'm downloading it right now.

What happens if you run the game disabling your Internet connection?

Anybody getting microstuttering when hitting 60 fps and above?

The only way I can avoid this is to crank up the AA so that I never reach 60, but then the fps will sometimes drop as low as 30 Sad

I don't get micro-stuttering and I have over 100 fps, but why don't you enable V-Sync if you want to cap your framerate?

Tried that, still the same, not happening constantly but every few seconds, and when it does, fraps dips from 60 to 59. I guess it's a driver issue.

Try turning AA from 4x to 2x....that did the job for me. No performance problems here on my 5770 all else maxed out 1080p. Yeah...the blur could be a little annoying.

The game is fun from what little I played especially on Fearless where the slowmo really gives the edge from life or death but multiplayer would be the shining star.

Unfortunately unless someone actually bypasses steam or you actually buy it there's no enjoying it. Too bad it's full price or else I would have been tempted to buy it just for the coop and multiplayer modes.

I've just tried this game for ~40 minutes and I can safely say that I'm definitely not enjoying it. Laughing

This is not FEAR, it's yet another CoD clone with some psychic powers here and there and a cover system that I find unnatural and rather cluncky, not to mention the ridiculous "graphics" for a game released in 2011 and the atmosphere, which is nonexistent.

Maybe it will get better later on, but at the moment it's a very average and uninspired game..

I've decided to play it at Fearless difficulty in order to make it last longer, and I have to admit that it's quite hard Razz

The game is nothing like past F.E.A.Rs but it's still actually a pretty solid shooter. They just dropped the whole horror aspect of it which is a bummer of course, but it's still a lot better gameplay-wise than I expected. I wonder if the multiplayer is any good.

Well i like the game thru the fast pace it has, not for a buy of course just for passing thru time but i hate the mouse handling, didn't notice that in the second part and that's why i play this one on the console ( xbox ) atm ( solely ) as the controls are lots smoothier on the gamepad there imo.

Played some more and finished it.

Great performance, 0 bugs.

The fact it's designed around co-op meant the horror (scares) aspect had to go.. the slower paced levels as well. On the upside this means action-action-action and the gameplay is very fast paced.

The story is meh, as is the direction and the visuals of the cutscenes (by Carpenter, and the script pays tribute to the fact with the line "In the Mouth of Madness", lulz - at least I hope I've heard it well and I'm not mistaken), but at least it's a true F.E.A.R. game because they use characters and story elements from both F1&2, along with several assets, musical cues etc.

The graphics for the most part are fine, I have absolutely no idea why they are such a big issue for some of you. In fact at times they are pretty good!!

Conclusion: this game ditched the horror/atmosphere aspect of the F.E.A.R. games but kept the frantic firefights. Inclusions like regenerating health, a cover system, co-op and ranks do not affect negatively the shooting. Its biggest flaws are the frequent this-is-a-closed-arena-and-you-have-to-kill-all-enemies-that-spawn-before-you-can-continue moments and its short length. Overall it's an enjoyable game.

I think the cover system was done nicely. But damn, I barely got jumpy a little because of the (obviously) forced "horror" parts, which were exactly what F.E.A.R. 1 and 2 tried to avoid(monsters jumping out of the closet). Also, the city level reminded me too much of Crysis 2, for some reason. Probably the creepiest part was when

It's a game I hate and love, it's got that something the F.E.A.R games always had, that keeps you going further while being scared shitless but it doesn't do it quite right.

Fights are frantic, fast paced and the A.I. is really aggressive and uses cover a lot. That's a great point.

I might grab it, for co-op, when it's gonna be on sale or smth.

= Call of Duty, which is the main problem for me Razz

It's not a terrible game per se, but it doesn't bring anything interesting nor innovative on the table.. it's generic braindead pew pew with generic game design, generic mechanics all nicely held together by a generic story. Playable? Sure..but we deserve much more than this! :S (imho)

IMO its worth it for the gore and dismemberments alone, finally a game with pretty well made gore and level of body wounds !! and the actual combat was very satisfying , sure it aint very much like fear 1 but its much much better than lots of shooters I played recently ! judge for yourself I say.
