My guess is that the release is final but the web page it takes you to have not been updated yet. In any case, it's really more of 4.1 than 5. I guess mozilla decided to play the numbers game to fight chrome.

Indeed, it seems like Firefox 5 is more like a Firefox 4.2 (a common habit amongst developers )

Well it was in their announcement that they would do it on purpose now to please the s who see Chrome numbers rising and decide to go for that purely on numbers. The faster major version, however, does not mean that development on Firefox is any faster, unlike Chrome, where each revision, sometimes even from minor to minor, brings more and more improvements.

I don't care about version numbers as long as the program is stable and works fine.

Don't worry it's the final version, the home screen wasn't updated yet because it hasn't been officially released yet.
I've been doing this, installing the latest versions of Firefox from their ftp, before they are officially released on firefox.com, since Firefox 1.. not once were they any different from the version that goes officially live a few days later.

Ah, chirz then. But I wasn't IE9 is really a good browser.
It is funny, with previous IE iterations, it was so revolting to use IE, that now that it is so good, I experience a strange draw to use it more and more.
