Its somewhere near the construction site. You can watch DNF walkthrough video if its too far. Or you can use Skidrow's version, because it has a crackfix where you can unlock chapters. But I never managed to port the savegames to Skidrow version.

DNF is still fucking fun and awesome. I finished it in two sitting starting 10seconds after steam release on 10th and it was worth it. This games takes shit on my mind that I cant even decide if its that bad or that good Laughing

But really - I enjoyed it. Shrink sections, vehicles sections, rc car, monstertruck, oneliners. This games doesnt deserve 2 or 3/10. Its solid 7 game ffs. maybe 6 if someone is stupid fag.

I totally agree, but most of the hate are coming from console reviewers & console users because the game has issues on "Hello Kitty Pc's". Very Happy They should have kept it PC only and maybe priced it a little lower. Just to win people over.

I agree. I had a lot of fun playing it. It is very simple and has some design flaws but I found it to be entertaining. It has all the simple elements that FPS's once had. It bring nothing new to the table but it never said it would, it just bring us plain fun gameplay. I give it 7.5/10. Duke deserves it.

Pop quiz. A game goes into development hell for a timespan greater than a Presidential term. After it finally ships, it looks and plays nothing like the vastly superior tech demo which had been unveiled years prior. Level design is as derpy and simplistic as a game can get, with exploration completely jettisoned for a linear cruise control ride. AI is nonexistent, combat is very clunky, and enemy types lack much variety. Gameplay consists of walking from one "arena" to another "arena", then waiting for the bad guys to show up to shoot. Then advance and repeat. In terms of complexity, the game is hands down a step backwards from the developer's previously released titles. Am I talking about Duke Nukem Forever or Alan Wake? One gets an 8.5 (???) and another a 3.5 (???). I don't get it. My guess is 3DRealms/Gearbox didn't tip.

You are talking about DNF, because that's not what happened with Alan Wake. There's nothing more complex in the gameplay of MP1&2.

Perhaps, if you ignore the awful combat and copy/paste level design of Alan Wake. Seriously, that must be one of the worst games I played last year. Duke, while hardly a gem, is much better from what I've played thus far.

Just finished the game. I really enjoyed it. Not a chance for it being up there with the best games of 2011 but far from being the worst of the year (I think I'll leave that honor for Homefront's singleplayer campaign). Here's hoping Gearbox will bring us a better sequel in the future. I confirm 7.5/10

I don't know why you are comparing it to Alan Wake. AW was light-to-light running simulator, DNF is an attempt on FPS game. I was genuinely surprised some people here on Hump are enjoying this... But hey each to their own.

For me DNF was a letdown, not that I was waiting for this game and I did not care for it. But weapons feel wrong (except maybe shottie, and MAYBE shrink gun), environment visuals are boring, enemies are boring, map design is boring. Only positive side of DNF for me is Duke's voice and his occasional one-liners, that I probably enjoy more if I watch them in short Youtube clips instead of boring game. Truth be told, part of DNF I enjoyed most in first 2 hours I played was pinball minigame. I'd take game like Bulletstorm over DNF anyday.

Yet anyone who had a problem with DNF should also have a problem with Bulletstorm.

Vulgar sense of humour and more swear words in it's first couple of level than DNF had in it's full game.

Straight, Linear level design with absolutely no room for exploration.

Only one or two weapons that actually come in useful.

Stupid story.

Massive gimmick that the whole game hinges on that you've seen all of by the time you reach the mid way point.

Shitty ending that resolves nothing.

Anything you level at Duke design wise is also rampant in Bulletstorm.

Lol, and I don't even feel like replying any chapters. What's the point? There was nothing that was so great/fun at such a level where I'd want to reply something again. Also online must be even more bland. Might as well make my self a large bowl of grits or porridge, with absolutely nothing, and have that for dinner, while playing DNF. I think that will really get me "immersed". Cool Face

@stemot: You forgot to mention how guns feel. I like shooting things in an FPS games. Enjoyment from shooting in Bulletstorm by far surpassed feeling of shooting in DNF. And IMO First Person Shooter is about shooting. Not about story, which is secondary thing, go play Mass Effect or something for story. You got that whip; if I remember correctly you could kick enemies at any time instead of "Press E to execute this target". Also, level design albeit straightforward action with no sideroutes, was filled with many of environmental objects you could use to kill enemies with.

Others points you brought I agree with, and by no means I said Bulletstorm was perfect game, but it provided me with far better enjoyment than DNF did.

@consolitis: Yes, it has prettier graphics. Which is also a minor plus in my book.

George Broussard is a fan of Bulletstorm, I've seen him twitter about it a few times, saying it didn't get the recognition it deserved.
I think DNF is more fun than BS, although I did like the giant robot dinosaur section.

IMHO Bulletstorm is a little bit more fun than DNF. It's better paced while Duke is somehow sluggish with slow intermissions and periods without shooting. Actually I think there is more walking from one location to another than actual fighting.
And maybe BS has a generic revenge main story line but the chracter development with Greyson's regret about getting them in to the whole mess was believable and I was somehow catched by it.

I think DN4E is trying to gain success by using the same formula like the action-movie "the expendables" with Sylvester Stallone in 2010. Some type of retro-machismo from the 80ies with the according one-liners and humor, violence and absurd plot, "not-too-sophisticated", straight action-gameplay you can even handle after a few bottles of beer consumed.
I dont think thats "enough" for a full-priced 2011 game. I did not like "the expendables" very much either, in my opinion it failed to re-create the feeling of great 80ies movies like "Commando" with Arnold Schwarzenegger, even if the action wasnt that bad.
There is a reason why the "straight shooter" genre has evolved. Admitted, the "ego-boost" option is like an mini-RPG-feature included - not bad for Duke.

I think that's more than enough and I'd be very happy if they delivered that. Imagine if the action scenes in expendables would be replaced with poorly filmed combat, no choreography, terrible stunts, cheap computer only sfx and A LOT of poorly timed slow motion. That's what DNF delivered.

The main issue is that the backbone of the game, the shooter part, is terrible and all the gimmicks are just piled there desperately trying to hide it.
It's like instead of using spices to flavor a meal, you serve a turd and try to cover it.

Bulletstorm is one of the most boring games that I ever tried. It wasn't fun at all, it was pure shit with some of the most retarded characters that I ever saw in gaming. It was also probably one of the most hand-holding games that I ever tried, thing that bothered me a whole fucking lot. If a game is so hand-holding and retarded, it means it's broken for me, it means that it's unplayable. Don't even get me started with the huge black bars because they were lazy to implement proper aspect ratio. I can get past the black bars if it's a game that I really like like AC or TW2, but Bulletstorm was a FPS and it was fucking retarded. The game was simply unplayable if you didn't do some tweaking to the INI files, period. It still was unplayable even after that, actually. On the other hand, I had a lot of fun with DNF. It's a 6/10 game, maybe 7/10. Is it worth buying for that price? Fuck no. Is it a very good game? Fuck no. It is fun? Fuck yeah!

Getting alot of mixed messages regarding Bulletstorm here. So basically if I didn't like DNF there's no point trying out Bulletstorm? I don't care about graphics or story and level design doesn't have to be very sophisticated, but the creative combo kill mechanics looked like fun in the previews.
