It's a fucking Comedy game, Yes games like that is a rarity, but you see stuff like this all the time in movies.

As I see it, Duke is like Machete, Shoot Em Up and the Crank movies and many more, Expendables anyone? And these movies have one thing in common (they have more than one but...) they are all hated by the majority for being offensive.

In short, most people don't get this type of comedy. Me, I think they are hilarious Very Happy

Ps. Fun fact, The Last Action Hero (Arnold movie) tanked in the US but did pretty good in Europe and Asia, And I'll bet it's because that movie made a joke out of Hollywood and the majority of the US reviewers can't handle that...

@Yondaime, no regen, more than 2 weapons... maybe it would make the game a broader experience, but it wouldn't make it a better game.

I played duke. When it came out. I haven't replayed it since. I can't say that I remember every inch of it. I loved it then. And I love duke now. I see what they were trying to do in this game. And yes, they may not have been successful in the whole epic feel of some boss battles... but there's still some moments in DNF where I go... cool and laugh at some jokes.

Is there any kind of mod support for the PC version of DNF? The obvious mod would be to remove the 2 weapon limit, but maybe someone will do something like Classic Doom was for Doom 3...

Such a shame they didn't carry on with the rest of the episodes, as CDoom is a monumentally awesome mod.

Actually.... thanks! I'm going to reinstall and play Very Happy Does anyone know of a De-gloom mod for Doom 3? One of its biggest failings (IMO) was just how horribly DARK everything was. It wasn't scary because of that, as was the intention, it was just downright irritating.

its not the humor, the undertones, or the basis of the game I have a problem with..I like it, its pure duke and think that parts good (even if a bit repetitive on the delivery).

its the horribly linear, forced choke points for no reason but to make the maps look longer, disjointed and seemingly random linkage of map to map and gameplay styles, as if they went "well we got small duke, duke in car, duke in RC car, duke in (whatever) we need to cram all these into one game..don't care the order, or if its needed..we coded for it, make it so!"

that I dislike.

its like if they made a starwars on ice live action play...(if they havent already). just because it hold true to the theme of starwars doesn't not make the actual process of watching it enjoyable.

They didn't carry on because they didn't want cease and desist orders. The shareware E1's license is very permissive, that is why that was always the plan, only recreate that. Wink

i read somewhere that 3DRealms made too much levels and gearbox just picked the best ones (+ some for Borderlands style DLC I think) and matchhem together

That's only PARTIALLY why they didn't carry on. The rest was due to personal decision and wanted to work on other projects. Like I said; regardless of the reason, it's still a shame. iD should have picked them up and had them work on a commercial mod for CDoom. That shit would have ruled.
