Started a new play through with the mage.
Quick question for the developers -
Why would you want to teleport towards (or in this case on top) of your enemies as a glass cannon? Seriously. Mirror Leap = Fuckin' Fail skill, as I suspect quite a few of the others are as well.
I don't think that the Archon class was wickedly overpowered, so much as the other classes are really underpowered.
Sorry, but when you only have 9 skills per class, you can't afford for any of them (much less 2 or 3) to be as useless as they are.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Mirror Leap is a pet not a dodge. Besides you can turn in whichever direction and leap that way. It's clunky but not useless. Also the empowered version draws all aggro from you.

They shouldn't give the game the name Dungeon Siege if it doesn't have stuff like that in the first place. The first Dungeon Siege didn't even had skills, it was much more about micromanaging, getting the right position in the battle for each character (and there were quite many characters, not 2 for fuck's sake). There were much more tactics to choose from in that game. No, I'm not saying so many, but damn it, just at the first shop keeper I can find more than 9 spells in the first game. Don't even get me started with the huge amount of loot and also huge maps. Right now, I'm in those dungeons from the beginning and damn I forgot how much fun Dungeon Siege is. Classic dungeon crawling with 4 characters and my mule, Flare, at my side, fuck yeah!

i liked how you leveled up your weapon skills in the previous games, by using a certain weapon in combat...i really miss that...it might not be a really bad game, espeacially with a controller, but it certainly is not a Dungeon Siege game. i loved the original games, but ths is not getting me hooked at all.

I understand that. Why am I raging so much because of this is because I was a fan of the first game especially. There was no game like it, it was unique. I don't say it was perfect, but I love the game's mechanics because those make it so unique. I think you all know how it is when one of your favourite game franchises is butchered instead of giving the new game some other name. I dunno, maybe make a new IP? I'm kind of sick of getting sequels to every fucking game, especially those good old games that just wouldn't work these days anymore because of the dumb audience.

Agreed, they messed up the pace of the game, the theme, and maked a cartoon-clown derp fairy adventure.

It would have been an easier pill to swallow if this was a spin off of the DS name. With a change of studio and publisher it was never likely to ever be the same again. No Chris Taylor involvement either. I think that man and his team were fundamental to what DS was all about anyway. I actually wish Microsoft were still around as a game publisher nowadays. I'm sure they could have made this better if it had not been square/enix behind it all too. (they have a better sense of quality control I think).
I see similarities between genres such as rpgs and action adventure nowadays. They are all blurring under the same label. Whereas rpgs have for the most part been dumbed down in examples such as this, dragon age 2, action adventure titles are going the otehr way, with more character involvement, skills and even inventory systems in place. What used to be clickfest games have simply been translated over to button mashing instead. Put recent examples of both these genres together and they are not too dissimilar.

The point is that gaming studios want to kill the pc gaming, and they are succeeding by doing crappy games like this one.
And this arcade crap is creeping into every pc game, nowadays.
Arcade gaming for everyone, "yay".

@sabin
From your links, at best he served as an "advisor" on DS3. Far cry from being "the designer behind it". This is Obsidian's baby, not his.
Not that Chris Taylor is some kind of designer genius, mind you. Playing DS2 atm, it's every bit as mindless as DS3. What has he ever done aside from DS2 that one would call noteworthy?

The main problem with DS III is that it had to be release on consoles (for more monies of course). So it had to be catered to pad controls and target audience (constant action and involvement). I don't think that Obsidian had a lot to say in terms of overall design. They had to tailor it to Square's requirements (action button mashing rpg).
Dungeon Siege as IP was used mainly to attracted larger consumer group - as it is easier to sell shitty title playing on nostalgia and fame then new IP (which this game could easly be).

Why does everyone keep blaming Square-Enix? "Dungeon Siege- Throne of Agony" was on the PSP, NOT published by Square-Enix.
